Default question on v12 series 3 - sleeves and pistons

Hi. I have searched this thread but cannot locate what I am looking for. If anyone can provide their opinion, would be much appreciated.

Restoring a 74. The engine builder advises the engine on tear down was pretty good. His recommendation is to bore the sleeves 30 over and install new pistons and rings 30 over as well. He suggests better this way than to replace the sleeves. I guess the other option would be to replace the sleeves and keep the original pistons.

Any thoughts? I don't want to be cheap at this point but also don't want to spend additional funds where they really would not be warranted.

Have you priced-up 12 cylinders ? Whilst these are a light push fit into the block, they could work out much more expensive than a rebore and new pistons. Presumably engine builder knows these cylinder sleeves are easily removed. In fact there are special tools to clamp sleeves down whilst the engine is being worked on to avoid them coming loose and needing re-sealing where they press against the block.. The original sealing was by use of Hylomar.
