Default replacing quarter light gaskets

Hey guys,

I'm looking to get the old E out this spring and notice how brittle and cracked the quarter light window gaskets. I can't find a disassembly section detailing how to replace the gaskets in my Bentley manual. Anyone have any tips hon how to get access? It's looks like the rear interior might have to be removed, just not sure?
Thanks

You do have to remove the quarter light assemblies but seals can be replaced without removing anything in the interior. The seals have a "T" shape that fits into a channel going around the quarter light opening on the car exterior. It is a tedious job to get the "T" into the channel inch by inch using a plastic trim tool or something similar. Cheers Richard

Ok, that does look tedious! That profile I've dealt with on the top door window frame seals. I see now that by removing two window latch attachment screws, this will allow opening the window more, thus, exposing the hinge screws. It looks like removing the entire window will make a tedious job less tedious? LOL! Thanks for your guidance.

So here's where I at...

If it were a real hinge, be easier, but then, it wouldn't be a hand built British marvel...

very dead!

I've found a bit of dishwashing liquid mixed with a bit of water in a spray bottle helps lubricate both the seal and its intended location. I like popsicle sticks for pushing seals/gaskets into place.. no sharp edges and small enough to encourage the 'T' section to go in.

Thanks for the tip. Only I'll use car wash solution. Doing this, I'll be washing a portion of the car too! LOL.
