My floors are rusted-toast in my Series II. What’s involved with replacing them, costs etc., and how does it impact the interior elements such as vinyl, leather or other?
Thanks for all your notes....yes it’s the floor pans which have rusted through each in one corner, probably where condensation pooled. Thanks for the lead, hopefully there’s material to weld to....how difficult a replacement job?
Kind of a drawn out thread, but a reasonable amount of useful info: LNRB Floor Pan Adventure
Best of luck with the radiation therapy on the metal cancer. Am also going through more of the same.
Not sure why this is considered a drawn out thread......you all know rust is a critical issue with e-Types, and many thanks to those who have given me their case studies, referrals and guidance. I have not yet torn up the heavy rubber matting the previous owner had riveted to the floor to see excactly how much floor cancer there is, but while the pans are rusted are, the sills seem sound. Right now it’s in a mech. shop receiving new fuel tank and alum radiator.....so I can get the thing started. Once these systems are recommissioned I might then drive the car and bring it to a chassis master, when I could report to those who are interested, in bringing a 20 yr coupe that was parked (wet) and suffered greatly for it. Again Thanks!

Sorry for the misunderstanding, as Norri states, not this thread, but the one I linked to. The linked thread travels through the entire process including learning how to weld! It is a good tutorial, but takes some time to work your way through it all. Just the nature of the forum beast.
I discovered rust under my rear seat. The first muffler is under there with a heat shield above it, then a layer of fiberglass insulation. Not a well thought through arrangement. Insulation gets wet, is then heated by muffler and rotted out the steel under the seat. Had it cut out, new steel fabricated and welded in a few nights worth of time. You would not be happy with my patch job in an E. Adequate for my common XJ6 daily driver as it was in a location that no one will ever see.

Yes pictures always welcome. The hardest thing about floor repair in interior access as there is not a lot of space to work. SNG barrat has always been great to work with on parts as well. and they do make 1/2 floors for partial replacement which mighgt be the way to go.
Thanks, I go Barrat all the way. I gave them the jabbing screwdriver test....floor ar okay but seam where pans are rusted through. Hope there’s enough material to weld to....we’ll see, need a bodyman to confirm.
