S3 mayday
Hi all, I took my S3 down to the gas station to fill her up after the winter. Shes been started every month for a warm up outside the garage. Normal start up and just a mile into town. Filled her up and on the way back she started to run rough añd died 800 meters from home. I suspected coil and replaced that and have spark. New distributor cap and rotor, lead cables and plugs... no life at all when cranking. Plugs are wet and the car smells fuel so this is way beoynd my compentence. What have I missed?

Have you got a spark from the coil ? As its a Series 3, it is a V12 with the notorious Lucas Opus ignition, sometimes called "Opluss" by mechanics of the time.

That'd do it. Purging the fuel system... A pain but a lot easier than an engine rebuild. Then you have to dispose of the compromised fuel. Be careful, a lot of folks forget that gas fumes are very flammable.
