Default Screw Size for Windshield Chrome Strip..

1970 Type II. The lower chrome strip on my windshield came off today and I noticed a hole at each end. Same for the chrome strip surrounding my rear glass. Holes at each end but no fittings. I assume small metal screws are supposed to be in these holes. Any particular type or size or will any small metal screw suffice?

Question 2. Is it easier to use plastic trim tools or the string method to apply these chrome strips?

Default Holes, yes, screws no

Yes, there are holes on both the front and rear chrome strips, but the holes are covered by the "hockey sticks" on the front and the square trims for the rear. No screws. The only purpose of the holes that I can think of would be to suspend those pieces in the chromung tank.
