Question Series 1.5 FHC Air Cleaner Options

Hello all,
I am thinking of replacing the stock, "shop vac" air cleaner system for the 2 ZS 175CD carbs, with a pair of modern, washable foam style units or possibly the air box and paper filter set up from a series II.
I know the "Longflow" chrome mesh filters will work, but not sure if the K&N 5.875 diameter filter will clear the horizontal sub frame member beneath the forward carb?
And, I think the spacing between the 2 Strombergs is unique to the '68 cars vs. the later 4.2 cylinder cars, making that option unviable.

Thanks for any input.

Hi baws,
I would look at what the jag parts suppliers have to offer as an aftermarket replacement. I am sure they have already done the homework as to what fits and what doesn't.
Good luck on your search.
Oh, and post some photos.
Bill.
