Default Series 3 custom dash and center console?

Something that's been bugging me about the original interior of my '74 Roadster is the plasticky dash parts and center console. Have any of you decided to fabricate replacements to improve or personalize your interior plastic bits? I think it might be neat to fabricate new metal parts, maybe something in the vein of the Series 1's.

This interior was on a '73 Roadster that recently was sold by Bonhams. Not exactly my cup of tea, but I think it looks pretty cool!

To be honest, it is totally OTT and not in keeping with the original design principals of the car.

Jaguar always kept the sports cars and the saloons apart when it came to interiors. Saloons had all the wood you wanted, whilst the sports cars were more austere, or "sporty". Of course one can modify a car to suit one's own tastes, but for me the original interior is best. Having said that, Jaguar always built a car down to a price, so when rebuilding, there is nothing wrong with using better materials provided they keep the same ambience of the original.
Of course, over the decades, it was possible to buy Jaguar sports cars with wood interiors, and one still can today, I believe, with the F-type, but restraint was the watchword.

Anyway, that's my take, others will no doubt disagree.

I did this to mine a while back. Not necessarily for appearance because I added power window lift, remote controlled mirrors, Nakimichi stereo and a 5-speed Tremac requiring a modified shift location, but I tries to keep the theme accurate. I don't think it's for the purist, but it is sure more user friendly as a daily driver.
