Default Shocking!!!!

Pun intended. I'm rebuilding the rear suspension and rear drive line components. I was shocked at the price of rear shocks (x 4). I also noticed that some come without spring replacements. Boge, which appear to be most like the originals are NLA. Woodhead looks original too. Anyone use them? What are people using for authentic restoration projects? Do you reuse the rear springs?

In the UK, the shocks are always sold separate to the springs. If the springs are unbroken and not sacked-out they can be re-used. I re-used mine when I replace the shocks on my 1980 XJ6. In fact I replaced the shocks twice ! The first set were cheap Joe Noname jobs that lasted only a short time, the next set were a good brand, but I can't tell you which make as it's too long ago !
The Monroe shocks are available on the internet: -

The Woodhead is available with spring too:

These are from David Manners Group who ship worldwide
Edit
Sorry, these links are for the XJ saloon shocks, but the E-type ones will be similar or almost identical as the same suspension subframe and suspension is used. Here's what David Manners offer: -

This morning I got an email from the secretary of our local branch of the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club giving the agenda for the monthly meeting this week. Also included was a link to an offer to members from the David Manners Group announcing that they were now supplying brand-new Woodhead dampers, due to the previous manufacturers giving up supplying them. They are claimed to be much improved from the previous dampers, and the prices look reasonable. Worth a call, I'd say.

Boge available here, not sure what the shipping would be.
