Default why are 3.8 pistons marked "front"

I'm going to have some new pistons custom made and am wondering why the originals are marked front. Could it be because the pins are offset? They look symmetrical to me. Any ideas?

Rod set and pin set require pistons to be replace as removed. Factory made it easy for fast undo and reassembly. Be sure rod and piston set is pulled that new pistons replaced same/direction way. Have shop mark pistons same way for next teardown. Makes it easier if something later on goes amiss. 2.4, 3.4, 3.8 and 4.2 are all marked.

Any idea why it makes a difference?

Read up on "piston pin offset".

The piston pin bore is not on the centerline of of the piston.

That's what I suspected. Thanks for the input
