Default aftermarket rims

Hi all,
I have been contemplating refinishing the rims on my '03 XK8, but have been surprised by the low prices of aftermarket rims on Ebay. I was quoted $600 to refinish all 4 rims here in town, and new ADR or A spec rims are even cheeper. Has anyone on the forum found good aftermarket rims, or has anyone had bad experiences with aftermarket rims?
thanks,
alfred

I would buy my rims from any dealer that stands behind them. You can look for rims mfg at facilities that have an QS9000 rating or the newer ISO 16494 rating. These are international guidelines for the automotive industry. Any manufacturer worth their salt will have this rating. That is why some rims cost more than others. But some will argue that all this is is more beauracratic BS. But at least with thses standards you can measure the difference between those who measure up and those who pretend to. I think all of the major car mfg. are at least QS9000 or ISO 16494. I would have to some more research to be sure.

But any rim manufacturer will proudly display these ratings on their advertising. Heck they paid for this certification why not use it to their advantage.

Something to think about!

thanks for the info. It is getting colder up here (Ontario, Canada), so the rims might end up being a spring project. I will definitely look for those ratings before I buy.

You have to be careful when looking for Jag wheels on ebay, because many of the wheels that are advertised for our cars don't actually fit. The Jag has a common bolt pattern but a not-so-common centerbore. You'd do better finding someone who understands these cars. I got my rims from Mike at eurotoysltd.com. He has a nice variety of rims, ranging from very reasonable to rather expensive. His customer service is excellent, as well...something you can't always count on with ebay sellers.

Here's my car with a set of very reasonable 18" Ruff 281s that I got from Mike...
