Default X300 Wheel Fitment Question

Greetings all!!

I have a 95 XJR and would like to get a set of Coventry wheels. In particular 19x8.5 fronts and 19x9.5 rears both ET20 offset for a 97+ XK8. Anyone have any ideas as to if these would fit without problems?

Im not so concerned about the fronts its more the rears and having them stick out! Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

I have an X300 wit 97-98 XK8 wheels, as I am made to understand.....check out my recent posting in this section (Exterior). They fit perfectly, rears too. No sticking out, and handles like a dream.

I dont know about the 19", that may be pushing it too much cause my 18"XKR wheelswith Avon ms550's 255/4018,front, and 275/40/18 rear, rubbed in the rear till I carefully rolled the lip with wood to not crack the paint. They will "crimp" the bearing covers when first evenly bolted up, but then no issues after that. Not only does the car look great, but rides and handles sooo much better. 19's are not as popular, therefor not as many choices is tire size

Looks good! But those are 18's correct? What about 19x9.5? Im thinking they may rub or stick out considering the height and width, unless someone knows differently...

What I have are 18's too...I think. Maybe 17's. I think 19's will make the ride much stiffer.

hmmm... well i can always go with the 19x8.5 all around as Coventry recommends.I was just looking for a deeper lip in the rear than in the front. I would go with 18s but since i want to paint the wheels gloss black with the polished lip, wheels always look one size smaller when they are in gloss black, especially with the polished lip and on a gloss black car!

yeah but then you lose the aggressive look you get with the larger rear, hhhmmm maybe I can swap out a customer set when I take my wifes car to work and check the clearance, how soon are you trying to pull the trigger?

damn, I just remembered unless conventry's wheel are the larger bolt pattern like ours the later 19ers use the small bolt pattern and will not even bolt up

Coventry only has one wheel style and uses it for all year and model Jags. you just pick which year and model you have and they give you the right bolt pattern. Ive mounted tires on a set of 17" Coventry's and they fit flawlessly on an older XJ40. Used OEM lugnuts and without hubcentric rings. But whats odd is on their application chart for a 95-97 XJR they dont include a 17" wheel and thats what comes stock on the car! Just thought that was odd that they wouldnt recommend a wheel size that came OEM!

Basically what im tring to say is they recommend a 19 inch wheel all 8.5 inches wide and with a +30 offset for a 95-97 XJR but since i would like to go staggered they dontoffer a 9.0 inch wide wheel but they have 9.5 inch wide for a 97-06 XK8/R which uses the same bolt pattern. I just dont know if i can squeeze that extra inch into that wheel well!

Im about to ask the guy from Eurotoys what he runs on that XJ8R! Considering he has staggered19's and has went through more sets of wheels on that car than ive gone through underwear this week! He should know what can and cant fit on a XJ!!!

What i want to do without the small talk in between: Hahaha

Coventry wheels, 19x8.5 ET20 Fronts, 19x9.5 ET20 Rears on a 95 XJR

www.coventrywheels.com

The only reason i said XK8/R is because Coventry "doesnt offer" staggered wheels with 19x9.5 rears for the 95 XJR. but they do for a 97-06 XK8/R and since its the same bolt pattern illbuy those.

The only question i had was will the 19x9.5 rears fit on a 95 XJR?

[sm=smiley20.gif]I think thats more understandable! hahahaha

If it helps, I used to have a X300 Executive with 10J x 20" Rears and 9J x20" Fronts (actually they were the Oyster Gold alloys from the XKR- I had 255/35-20 tyres all round. I had to roll the rear lips as arches would hit when the car was fully laden or going over extreme road humps.

I currently have an 98 XJR also with 10J x 20" Rears and 9J x20" Fronts - this time the rears are running on 285/30-20 and front 255/35-20. I believe the rear offset is either ET20 or 25 can't remember. I had rear arches on this rolled too- but only not to 'risk it'. Without the roll there was probably a clearance of about 2mm max- but for the sake of a few pounds (£80 GBP for two), professionally done job- no money at all really.

So itake itthey fit but only if the rear arches get rolled....

hmmm, well thats not an option in my case since i just got my car and the guy who i bought it off of worked at a high end body shop and said the rear arches were rotted out and he had to hand make quarter panels. and wouldnt suggest rolling them since there may be some body filler in there and it will crack if rolled.

so i guess ill have to see about a size smaller, maybe 18x8.5 fronts and 18x9.5 rears? i know 18x9.0 rears fit so hopefully that extra half inch wont rub.

Thank you Brutal and SH500 for all your help!!!!!!
