It needs programming with JLR Pathfinder diagnostics which can either be at a Dealer or an Independent with the same factory level diagnostics. If it's 'new' as in unused then you will need all other smartkeys present at the same session. If it's 'new' as in a used one sourced from ebay or similar, you are likely to have problems if it wasn't unpaired from the original vehicle.
