Default Ethanol premium gas

My f pace is working perfectly, but I used Costco’s gas and the check engine light came on, I don’t know if anyone has had this problem before, the mechanic said that it could be because of the ethanol in the fuel

Put engine and trim in your signature or at least mention it in the post.

Maybe a winter blend gas issue. Did your mechanic clear the codes and did they return?

He’ll clear them this Sunday, he is gonna check it again.
Also, the panel shows that the hood is open even if it’s closed, I don’t know if that could be because the cold weather affected the switch

That’s a common failure. Microswitch at the hood release fails causing alarm to go off. Especially in the seriously cold weather like what we have now.

If you don’t have a CEL then there isn’t a code set. At least not one to worry about yet. How many miles on car? Are you up to date on maintenance intervals?

It has a lot of miles (170k), it warmed up a little today and all the lights went off, check engine light is gone and the hood open warning is gone too

I wouldn't be so quick to condemn ethanol, especially from Costco. It's true, ethanol is not good but if it's only 10% or less and the gas is Top Tier and the fuel is turned over frequently then there should not be a problem. All of these conditions are met by buying from Costco. Personally, I buy from Mobil, using the Exon/Mobil APP and paying with the Apple Card. Rewards for buying premium and 3% cash back for using Apple Card. I'd change the spark plugs and look for a fouled plug. I would not pull the plugs and reuse them. I would buy a code reader so you can check codes yourself.
