Default F-Pace Maintenance

My girlfriend has a 2018 F-Pace 25t Prestige with the 2.0L I-4 gas engine. The maintenance package has expires and I will be taking over these duties. I’m very mechanically inclined and have a two-post lift and pretty much all tools required to do most maintenance. It currently has 46,805 miles on it and all service, up to this point, has been completed by Jaguar. I’m searching for a legitimate service schedule for this vehicle and will be stopping by here when I need advice or have questions. First question is about changing the oil. I’ve seen various suggestions online, but I’m looking for tips or suggestions here. Are there any secrets to changing the oil, or is it pretty basic? I only ask because the owner’s manual is useless when it comes to maintenance and I know some vehicles use strange procedures. I assume it’s drain, change filter, refill like most vehicles, I just want to make sure.

Another question. I know the oil thing has been beat to death, but I just want to make sure I’m using the right oil. Jaguar calls for STJLR.51.5122 (old spec) or STJLR.03.5006 (new spec). I’m having a hard time finding these oils in the US. I’m very hesitant on purchasing oils from Amazon and would really like to avoid that if at all possible due to massive amounts of fake products. I’d like to purchase from a local store if possible.

The two oils I’ve been looking at are:

Liqui Moly Top Tech 6610 SAE 0W-20 which meets STJLR.03.5006

and

Liqui Moly Special Tec 0W-20 which meets STJLR.51.5122

I found the Special Tec on the NAPA website, but I cannot find the 6610 anywhere. I’m assuming since the F-Pace is a 2018, I’ll be fine with the Special Tec since that is the spec requirement when the vehicle was built? Am I making this a much bigger deal than it needs to be? Should I just run down to the auto parts store and grab some Penzoil Ultra Platinum 0W-20 and be done with it? This is what I use in my truck and it would be nice to just use one oil on both vehicles. I plan on oil changes every 5K miles and since my girlfriend works from home, and it rarely gets driven, it will be quite some time between oil changes.

I'm cuurently using Valvoline 0W-20 Extended Protection for my XF. I do every 5K miles OCI. I've used Mobil1 0w20 and Quaker State 0W-20 Ultimate Protection in the past.

Do any of those meet the Jaguar specs? Just curious. Maybe it doesn’t really matter.

If you want to follow Jaguar's OCI of every 16K miles, then use 0W-20 with JLR specs STJLR 51.5122

Mine is no longer under warranty, so I used any top tier brand 0W-20 Syntethic oil but I follow every 5K miles OCI. My XF has turbo and timing chain. I need it properly lubed of fresh oil.

I just changed mine for the first time. I don't plan on waiting 16-20k miles so I used Castrol 0w20 that was on sale but it might meet the specs anyway.
That video he posted above is great and it was as easy as any other car over done. Only issue for me was it's a 2021 and you can't reset it like the 2020 or before. Might need to take to dealer.
Cabin air filter is a pita so be ready for that

Yes Castrol Edge is a very good oil. Their 0W20 Extended Performance Synthetic Oil can go up to 25K miles. But if it was me, I will not go beyond 5K miles for that. Many would say, I'm wasting money, why not do 25K as the bottle says? The reason is I'm keeping my Jag for a very long time.

We are out of warranty as well and I’ll be doing oil changes every 5K miles. I may just use PUP or Castrol full synthetic 0W-20.

I don’t blame you. I would never even go 10K miles between oil changes.

I will probably just put it on the lift and drain it from the drain plug. This will give me a chance to check out everything underneath and lube anything needing attention. I ordered a Wix air filter, oil filter and cabin air filter. Hopefully the cabin air filter isn’t too hard. The one in my 2022 Ram 1500 is extremely simple.

Well, neither one of the oils I was looking at are available through NAPA. If I decide to use Liqui Moly, I’ll have to order directly from them. But, as I mentioned above, I may just use PUP or Castrol. Decisions, decisions.

I received a reply from Liqui-Moly regarding the two oils that they sell for Jaguars.

Thank you for contacting Liqui Moly support.

As you mentioned both Top Tec 6600 0W-20 and Top Tec 6610 0W-20 are approved according to the STJLR.03.5006 specification which means they will provide equal protection and allow long oil change intervals when used according to LR and Jaguar instructions. Which one you chose to use is more dependent on availability and preference.

I was able to order the Liqui-Moly Top Tec 6600 0W-20 through NAPA. The 6600 is sold in 1L and 5L containers, but the 6610 is not sold in 1L containers. I thought that was a little strange.

With the mass amounts of counterfeit products on Amazon, engine oil is one thing I’m very leery of obtaining there.

I understand. The bottles that show up from Amazon are no different than the ones I buy locally from my NAPA store. Except my NAPA store never seems to be able to keep it in stock.

Same for me. The local NAPA had to get it from a store 55 miles away.
