Would have been a nice touch. Not illuminated on the F-Type, either.

 

I own two XJ's and an F-Pace and, to be quite honest, I only use the volume switch under my thumb. The last time I used the rotary volume control was whilst waiting for my wife (On/Off function, engine off).

It's a personal thing I guess. I hate extraneous lights in the cockpit, (comes from flying jets at night), I asked if there was anyway that the passenger airbag light could be turned off..... there isn't. A thin strip of black electrical tape works!

You sound like me - my A6 ambient lighting - you can barely see it when driving around town at night - out in the country its a nice soft light. I got into the fpace last night and drove off and my first though was how do you turn this stuff off lol oh and the airbag one only stays on momentarily in the A6. and the A6 is all black inside roof cloth and all so subtle but a big difference.
