Default 2014 F-type at the track

Gents -

Last month I sent back my 2012 XKR which served it's time well. It was replaced with a 2014 Firesand V8S with all the bells and whistles.

Doing what anyone should do with a new car...I threw on a set of drag radials and went to the drag strip on this nice 60deg day in NJ.

I was really happy with the results:
11.83 @ 119.55

Backed up with a 11.86 @ 119.65

The care just would not 60' hard AT ALL. 60' times were 1.85-1.87....odd, the old XKR would get into the 1.7x range from time to time.

hmm, maybe the XKR had more weight on the rear wheels and "launch" better, then the F type is lighter and catches up ... just spewing nonsense, I really have no idea ...

Hey, Jay. Sweet looking F-type. Great color. The black street wheels loom so much better than the drag wheels in the back. Are you still getting an Eurocharged tune. I'd sure like to see your times after the tune.

Hey, thanks! Yeah, the color was alot to take when I first saw it...but I'm kinda into it now

Haha...yeah, the drag wheels don't do a thing for styling - but had to be on them to run a time

Yeah, I'm still planning on trying Eurocharged, just need to work out the details and make sure there's a money back option if it doesn't perform

Jay, how much worse do you think the 60' times would have been on the factory tires? What was the effective altitude/correction factor for your runs that day?

Where can you do track/drag in NJ? I would love to try it out.

Steve - awesome I'll be working on making it a bit quicker this year

As for the 60' times, hard to say. I mean, in the '12 XKR I was able to cut a 1.8x 60' on the OEM tires...dunlops, I think, The problem was consistency, it was (for me) so hard to repeat that...and way too easy to just light up the tires and blow the whole run.

I imagine with practice, luck, heat, etc...you could get a respectable time out of the factor PZero's - but it would also be super easy to put on a big smoke show

The DA was actually negative that day and for a supercharged engine there was essentially no correction. But the weather was perfect, sunny...60deg.

I goto Atco Raceway...in Atco, NJ - it's about 25min from my house. It's a great time and a good group of racers. Come by some time.

The numbers I've seen show the F-type is only 15kg (33lb) lighter than the XKR Coupe - I was surprised.

Wonder what kind of times the F-Type R Coupe would put out with a drag setup.

2014 Jaguar F-Type V8S 1/4 mile trap speeds 0-60 - DragTimes.com

So this thing just did an 11.69 @ 120.2mph, very nice!

Eurocharged pulley & tune on drag radials.

1.79s for the 60' is not hanging around either!

EDIT

Duh, I missed your other thread https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...-track-115300/
