Default Jaguar considering F-Type Coupe Club Sport

Jaguar is apparently considering a lighter-weight harder-core F Type losing up to 440 lbs if the rumors are to be believed

That would be great! I'm sure that engineering could translate across the entire line of cars. I would LOVE an XFR at just under 4000 lbs.

Well, they advertise the XF with the 5 liter engine 0-60 in 5.5. The car does it in 5 seconds flat.
The F type V8S is advertised at 4.2, it sprints to 60 in 3.4.

Now, if i follow their pattern, should be 3.0 area to 60mph.

I would love to see a lightweight version of this.....http://www.carbuzz.com/news/2014/3/3...Coupe-7719500/

The F-type R Coupe is advertised as 0-60 in 4.0. Has anyone done an actual test to see if it is faster than the V8S, which it should be?

haven't seen any instrumented tests yet, but the first reviews (such as the Chris Harris review posted last week) suggest that's it not night and day faster. It should be quicker, but I'd not expect it to be by all that much.

I wouldn't expect it to be night and day faster but the Coupe R is a bit lighter and with 55 more horses under the hood. Should knock a tenth or two off.

Here you go.... Car and Driver instrumented data for the F type R. PERFORMANCE (C/D EST):
Zero to 60 mph: 3.5 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 8.3 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 11.8 sec
Top speed: 186 mph

I was reading up on the Range Rover Sport Supercharged and come to find out that thing sprints to 60 in 4.6 seconds...wicked fast SUV. Faster than my XF.

Looks like those numbers might still be their estimates so they might even be a bit better. If you compare the V8S first-drive and instrumented test you can see the difference. They give a lot more detail with their full instrumented test, like rolling starts which give a better idea of the cars performance.

V8S First Drive
2014 Jaguar F-type First Drive – Review – Car and Driver
PERFORMANCE (C/D EST):
Zero to 60 mph: 4.0-4.9 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 12.2-13.2 sec

Zero to 100 mph: 8.4 sec
Zero to 130 mph: 14.3 sec
Zero to 150 mph: 20.3 sec
Rolling start, 5-60 mph: 3.8 sec
Top gear, 30-50 mph: 2.2 sec
Top gear, 50-70 mph: 3.0 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 11.9 sec @ 120 mph
Top speed (drag limited): 171 mph
Braking, 70-0 mph: 151 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.92 g

I'm actually surprised it faster than the Stingray, which around here is selling in the $85-90k range. So much for the bargain of the year. I finally got to drive one this weekend, it is nice but not worth what they are asking for at the moment. Now I'm definitely going for the F-type R.

Zero to 100 mph: 8.7

Top gear, 50-70 mph: 10.2 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 12.2 sec @ 117 mph
Top speed (C/D est): 190
Braking, 70-0 mph: 146 ft

I saw few new C7s at a car meet yesterday and they are nothing special.

It's actually quite embarrassing that the F type with identical engine output is faster, when the Corvette weighs less by 400-500 pounds.

I was really torn between the C7 and F-type. When a fully loaded C7 was listed at $67k it seemed like a great deal. This dealership I went to was selling a used, yes used for $82k. They said they actually bought it from the guy for $2k more than MSRP just because it was a C7 with the Z51 package. Then they added $10k market adjustment. Just crazy and ultimately really soured me on the corvette which I had been a fan of.

So if Jag does come out with the club sport, they could really shake up the performance coupe market depending on price.

Motor Trend has two 0-60 times for the V8s. The first was slower at 3.9 seconds, the second was 3.4 seconds which was the fastest I've seen from a magazine test. Sometimes magazines "correct" their results, so it's not always easy to compare them, but it's clear that the v8s is considerably quicker than the official times claimed by Jaguar.
