Default Cirrus (or light) leather care

I have cirrus leather in my F-type. It's just a matter of taste as I've always preferred light colored cabins because it opens up the space better.

I noticed that the leather picks up jeans and other stains much faster than any of my previous bmw/mb cars.

Do you guys have recommendations for a decent leather protectant which can be applied preferably infrequently (or ideally once only!) which can help guard against these stains?

The car gets detailed pretty much every week but even then it seems. To be picking up stains too quickly.

I've been very happy with the Zaino Z-9 Soft Leather Cleaner and Z-10 Leather in a Bottle conditioner, but they just clean/condition the leather (very well as it happens) but I'm not sure they'd do much to help you with your color transfer. 3M's Scotchgard do a leather protector that may help, and I think DuPont has a leather protector with Teflon if I remember right. My wife's Lexus had a beige interior and we used to have the same issue it seems to be one of the prices you pay with a light interior. I do agree, though, lighter interiors really do seem open up the space better than darker interiors.

I'm a fan of the Meguiars products, but Leatherique is rated a better product line.

I have the Ivory interior that shows everything, so I know what you mean.

If you are looking for an over-the-counter product, I've found that Mother's works better than Meguiars Mothers® Leather Wash Foaming Cleaner

When I bought the car, Jaguar included a bottle of Leather Master brand cleaner which is comparable to Leatherique - but much easier to use IMO.

One of the worst websites ever (Rejuvinator & P.C. Directions | Leatherique Restoration Products). However, they have the best product I've ever used for the blue jean stain. I have the Champagne Full Merino Leather optioned in my M6GC and the Leatherique product works miracles.

Thanks all for your suggestions!
I've done some additional searching and it looks like Leatherique is the way to go.
Unfortunately for best results it requires some "baking" in hot sun, so I may have to wait till summer to do the full application

There are two products, one is the cleaner and one is the restorer and conditioner. It's only really the latter that needs the time to soak in and "bake", the Prestine Cleaner is largely used just like any other leather cleaner. I have both and they work well, but for getting the dye transfer off the light seats I generally find that the Zaino Z-9 works just as well.

One other tip albeit with a severe caveat - you can also use some of the leather cleaner with those "Mr Clean"-type Magic Eraser cleaning sponges - it will get almost any stain off, but you run the risk of taking some of the color/dye out of the seats as they are lightly abrasive so it's a last resort or something to use with extreme caution. This combo does work really well, however, to get scuff marks and the like off any light plastic trim but again be somewhat gentle

Curious that light leather seats picks up the color of jeans? I don't have any experience with a light interior - all my cars have had, obviously by choice, darker interiors - but I guess it makes some sense that there's some sort of "bleed" factor but that certainly sounds like a bit of a drag (or at least a bit extra work). Price you pay for a light color I guess...

All leathers pick up the dye from blue jeans. It's just most noticeable on light colors. However you can notice it on black or red too.

Hummmm. Even after washing them? (The jeans, not the seats). I've never noticed that, but then again always have had darker interiors. One more, albeit small, reason why I'm glad I didnt go for BRG with tan interior, much as I love that classic combination.

Learn something new every day.

You can't but your solution was quite elegant I think.

The way you can notice this effect on a dark leather is that you will notice 2 differences after a year: 1) it will seem slightly darker than normal, and 2) it will seem slightly shinier than its new matte finish. These are both signs of dye and dirt transfer. The way to solve this is to clean it with a microfiber pad and some leather cleaner. I use Swissvax leather cleaner forte. You will see all the dye and dirt lift off onto your pad.

Then you can finish it with leather masters leather conditioner matte.

Is Jaguar using different material and/or dyes now?
In the 4 years we had the S-Type..ivory interior..we had no problems with the seats picking up the dye from jeans or any other colored material.

I also have Cirrus and experienced no problem with color transfer either with jeans or any other clothes. Of course, the only jeans I wear have probably been washed more than 500 times, and barely have any dye left in them.

Then you're good to go...just don't try wearing new jeans (especially unwashed) with cirrus or light-colored suede.

Baby Wipes are an extremely effective way to clean Alcantara and leather.

...among other things.

P.S. I too have found Mothers to be a superior brand (I used to use Meguiars) which I prefer using for most applications, interior as well as exterior.
