Default Illuminated Treadplate

When I bought my F-Type, I did not get the illuminated treadplates. Now I would like to get these on it. My assumption is that any F-Type can have the plates, but not sure on that. Anyone have any experience with this?

Somebody looked into this this summer and found it prohibitively expensive to swap the standard plates for illuminated ones, but I'm completely unable to find the post.

You will find the Fitting Instructions for Illuminated Tread Plates in the Accessories section of the HOW TO sticky thread at the top of this section:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...mation-101906/

If you are planning to have the dealer fit these, a scan of the procedure will soon show it is quite involved and therefore likely to be several hours labour.

Jaguar and their dealers are very coy when it comes to publishing prices on accessories but one US distributor has OE F-Type Illuminated Tread Plates on eBay!

Wow...
I did this on my XJL, and the wiring and everything was already there. You basically just needed to snap the old ones off, hook up a wire, and click the new ones into place... This seems like a nightmare!

Default Lighted plates can be end user installed

I installed a set of lighted plates, they look nice but the cost is pretty high for what you get. Installation is an afternoon job because you have to pull the lower rock guard/sills to get the wiring connected. No special tools required other than torx, but you should be mechanically inclined. Some tips:

1) Don't even try to save the originals, they're taped in and you have to bend them up to get them out.
1) When removing the top of the rock guard/sill assembly be firm but careful. No clips or screws on the backside, it's a press fit. I poked, pried and prodded for 30 minutes before I "went for it", with success on both sides.
2) The screw and clip locations on the instructions aren't correct, but you'll figure out which ones to remove.
3) Make sure you slide the replacement black rubber "undersill" under the outside metal lip first, then put the screws in on the top

If someone goes for it feel free to drop me a note if you want more detail. I also swapped out the hood louvers and roll bar covers.
