2014-2017.5 F-TYPE CarPlay Upgrade
No response to my last email yet. Strange that your volume dial doesn't work, mine is fine. I honestly have no idea idea what wire does what but are you sure that all plugs are fully seated? Is your audio set to Aux or bluetooth in the car? If on Aux do you have the little blank Aux jack they included plugged into your aux jack in the arm rest?
I'm guessing the track forward and backward on the steering wheel won't be working for my application, I've just gotten used to using the Apple Carplay home screen that has a small map and track forward backward buttons on it at the same time.

Okay here is what I have learned, I had not put my ventilation controls back in and that affected the volume control. So everything is working with the following exceptions, steering wheel track forward and backward, and ,and backup camera gives me a black screen. I have been doing some research and with another brands module the track buttons don't work if the car is in the custom setting instead of the factory default setting. Mine is in the custom setting. Don't know if that is the issue but maybe? Of course that means removing everything, reverting to factory setup, making the change and putting it all together again. The reversing camera is a bigger concern. I will say the install was easy once I extended the cable by 18 inches.

After seeing your post I tried removing that aux blank that I had from the first kit they shipped me that didn't work and everything kept operating the same for me with it removed, so audio worked, volume on steering wheel works, track forward/backward on steering wheel does NOT work.
I have not had the issue with my backup camera, there are some advanced settings about the backup camera you can go through, if you're seeing Carplay there is a settings option that isn't Carplay settings, it takes you back to the boxes configuration. That does remind me when I tried to change EQ settings in the box UI settings it broke all audio and I couldn't get it to come back until I reset it by changing some other audio setting.
I wonder if your dip switch settings could have an effect on backup camera, I thought they were mostly for screen resolution but maybe they do something else IDK.

Updated, I am back and forth with Carlinklife currently, yesterday I disconnected the unit and set my "dynamic" settings back to factory and the track forward and reverse still do not work so that wasn;t the issue. My backup camera works sometimes and I think it is their LVDS cable. I am disappointed the track forward and back are not working. I have a feeling they maybe moved to someone else's box.
Track forward/reverse will NOT work in Carplay. They will work to change XM and radio stations, as they always have. It's the nature of these retrofits. These boxes don't intercept the CAN bus, so can't redirect button functions. As far as the Jag is concernned, it's just showing the Nav screen when this box is installed. The buttons on the steering wheel will do exactly what they've always done when factory Nav is showing. You'll get volume control, and the ability to change the Jag's OEM audio forward/backward.
Just another update. The Carplay portion has been working well but the rear camera works initially but once the unit has been on for a few minutes it goes to a black screen and will not work again until the car has been off for a while. They have shipped a new unit with the longer cable today.
Dip switches didn't help with the backup camera, they have sent me a new unit. As far as the track forward and back, unless I need the Nav audible instructions, I connect my phone VIA bluetooth and then the track buttons work.
Thanks for letting me know! Let's keep you each other updated! I will pick up my 2015 F-type Coupe this Saturday! Can't wait!
I also just found a video on youtube where somebody bought an USB extension cable towards the centerconsole. This way you do not have any dangling cables in the footwell. Looked really nice. See below:

the car is amazing, I’m in love with it! Should have bought one earlier!!
Yes the unit arrived the day prior to my honeymoon, so didnt have a chance to install it yet, I will do this when I’m back and will report back!
Congrats on the marriage and the car! Enjoy your Honeymoon.
Finally received the replacement unit from Carlinklife. It is a completely different unit and more like the one people have described here with the aux input dummy plug etc.
Took me about 30 minutes to remove the previous unit and install this one, unit worked immediately and yes the track forward and backward work on this version of the unit which is awesome.
The newer version they had previously sent had a little cleaner UI, you didn't need the dummy plug, had more features and loaded much quicker.
Saying all that, this one works and the cable was plenty long enough. I might suggest if you are ordering one and have an older F-Type that you request the earlier version.

just got mine and the cable was plenty long. Unfortunately it worked one time. Powered the car off and on to test and it is dead as a doornail. Emailed them and waiting to hear back. No idea if it was the newer or older model.
I was able to install the unit yesterday, and everything worked as it should! The controls on the steering wheel (volume, skip track) all work, so does the rearview camera. I was also able to guide the usb cable to the armrest storage area, so i don't have the usb cable dangling in the footwell!
the only thing is it seems to have been a range rover unit (with very long cables which i liked). The only thing it shows up as “Land Rover” on my car play screen. No big deal for me.
I took my sweet time to install the unit and it took me about two hours in total.

FYI for all the Canadians out there, I never received a tax or duty bill with either unit.
Cheers.
Based on this thread I purchased this Carplay / Android Auto unit from carlinklife and I wanted to share my experience on my 2016 Bosch system. Long story short I'm very happy to have Android Auto now, but there are a few minor issues that others have experienced - but there are work arounds!
I received the unit pretty quickly from China (less than 2 weeks), shipped directly to the UK, and I didn't have to pay any additional VAT or customs duties. Installation was straight forward.. the instructions were lacking a bit but if you've done any sort of car audio upgrade in the past its not that hard to figure out. I agree that the wiring loom should be "reversed" so that the unit can tuck in behind the center console as opposed to the side of the drive shaft tunnel.
Initially I set the dip switches to "1 on" according to the instructions. Booted the system up and everything worked fine apart from the forward / back track steering wheel controls. Vol Up / Down steering wheel controls worked fine. OEM reverse camera works as it should. I didn't notice any other issues other than the forward / back track steering wheel controls.
So I unplugged the unit and set the switches to "2 on, 6 on", same result.. no change from what I could tell.
I changed the switches to "all OFF" and had no video.
So I changed the switches back to "1 on" and that's how I left it at the moment.
Now I noticed a few more problems.. not sure if these could be fixed with the dip switches as I'm waiting on customer support to get back to me.
1. When adjusting the volume you get the OEM volume indicator box overlay that pops up on the screen, when this would happen the Android Auto video in the background goes black, then when the volume dialog goes away, about a second later the video comes back. This happens every time you adjust the volume. I was able to fix this by changing a setting on the OEM head unit side of things to disable that volume pop up box.
2. Audio quality from the AUX setting is terrible. It has a high pitch whine / buzz that increases with the engine speed - indicating a bad ground or a ground loop. This is one of the "newer" units without the dummy AUX plug.. I don't know if that would make any difference. I also don't want my audio going through 2 sets of EQ. I solved this by leaving the OEM head unit on Bluetooth and then on the new unit bypass the Audio AUX passthrough found here: https://carlinklife.com/blogs/news/h...nklife-carplay
3. With the OEM set to Bluetooth, all of the steering wheel controls work! Bad news is just like the volume control box overlay pop up, forward and back track also has a dialog pop up that blanks out the screen.. however there isn't a way to disable this pop up as far as I know.
Anyone with this unit and having steering wheel control issues - I recommend doing the AUX bypass and run bluetooth audio to the OEM head unit in the background.
If anyone has recommendations on what dip settings they recommend let me know! I've not heard anything back from customer support so far about the video blanking on overlay pop ups.

My dip switch settings are 2 and 6 down. I don’t have any problems with the overlay. Steering wheel buttons work as expected. I’ve done about 15k miles since I’ve installed the unit.
I have the stock radio pop up the volume when I adjust as that’s my preference - I like to see how close I am to my personal max as there are some days where I just need to be immersed in it (not recommended for safety but for my mental health) and without that visual I’d likely go far beyond what I should. That volume pop-up is independent of the CarPlay unit. As you said, that’s a setting in the car, not CarPlay or AndroidAuto.
