Default 2014 Convertible V8S Door Bulge when Window DOWN

Hi!

Any other convertible owners out there experience a slight bulge in the outer-door panel when the window goes down? Mine does. I pulled the door panel, checked the regulator - there's space between the regulator and outer door panel. I then took it to a dealership and he said everything is adjusted to spec. I'm totally uncomfortable with this. I'm afraid, over time, it will damage the panel or cause a pain issue. Can anyone lean in?

Greg

I have the same model year and have not noticed this occurring. I’ll will check mine but can you post some pictures of the phenomenon?

I wish I could post pics, but its too hard to see in pics. I have tried. I'm pretty sure there's something tweaky there and the dealer was just too lazy to sort it out. If you put your hand on the lower outer door panel and roll down the window - that's when I can feel and actually see the bulging panel. It's disconcerting.

Thanks!

Just did an experiment with mine and even enlisted my better half to help. Ran the window up and down several times with her and I checking out sight lines as the window was going down and up. Also felt the side of the door during window operation. No bulge or discernible movement of any kind was visible or felt. Just a slight vibration from the window motor which you really had to concentrate for and only toward the more middle forward part of the door.

While not scientific or universal this experiment leads me to conclude you may have a motor mount that is lose of the window lift arm is out of alignment.

I've never noticed this in mine, but am not currently home to check.
However, I had an '88 Mustang GT that the door would bulge when lowering the window. It turned out to be a bolt had backed out at the bottom of the track where the window regulator mounted causing it to push out when the window lowered. It was a PIA to get to because the window had to be down to align and replace the bolt. Sounds like it may be something similar.

This is excellent. Thank you so much for checking your cars out for me. I knew the information I received at the dealership couldn't be trusted. I'll likely need to buy a new regulator, it sounds like. Again - thank you so much for taking the time to test this out and confirm my suspicions. Cheers!

My car is in the shop this week having my Wortec rotors installed and my calipers painted to match the body of the car. But if you want we could get together next week sometime and we could compare them side by side yourself and see (iIhave a 2014 V8S)? We live pretty close to each other.

SOLVED. Thanks for your input. It would seem some jacka** forced the lower bolt through the bottom bracket (exactly as JacksonvilleJag described on that old Mustang). The unfortunate thing is it isn't cheap or easy to repair, and there's damage done to the door panel (which I'm hoping can be repaired by my dent guy).

Thanks again for the input, everyone. I'll be headed back to the dealer to explain what they missed in their diagnosis should they encounter this again.

Cheers!
