Try a vacuum filler for the coolant refill. I have been very impressed with how well it worked. Many out there so look around.

carbuff2, I was actually referring to the coolant drain plug on the plug. Curious if you have done that and if so, if you have any suggestions to get the bolt started in the block so I can thread it back in.

As I said, I can only offer condolences regards the coolant drain plug. .

We had our coolant replaced by the indie shop that put in the EuroAMP metal pipes a year ago.

The poster of this specific video is very detailed in his explanation of how to change the y pipe. The videos well made.

No it's not my video. It seemed like a good reference video for everyone to see.

Gotcha. Thanks. I'd actually love to contact the that guy from "ONCA Engineering" who made the video and ask a few questions about the job. Does anyone know if he has direct contact info? Maybe an email address and/or website? I left a comment on the video page but didn't get a response.

@HermanWiegman is the creator, and he’s on here. He’s done a lot of work with F-type differentials, etc.

Thanks for Herman's name. I'm hoping to find his contact info somehow and see if I can run a couple of questions by him

Separate Item. As I'm starting to begin putting all of this back together, which is turning out to be a lot more challenging than I thought (and a little concerning), I found a small plastic tube that comes off of the transmission and goes up to the bracket for the wiring harness behind the Supercharger. This little pipe makes a "U" and is open. I'm not sure if it got disconnected or if I broke it or maybe it's just a vent?? Anyway no what I'm talking about and can advise? I can't seem to find where it would connect to.

I also left a comment on the video asking to pay for the extra symposer blanking plate, but I haven't received an answer yet.

I wouldn't mind that as well but I ended up buying a kit on line that has the blanking plate and a plug for the port on the firewall. However, there is one more small plastic hose that needs to be capped off. It tees off of a pipe that connects something in front to I believe the back of the Supercharger. I noticed on his video that he quickly mentioned but I missed it the first time I watched the video

Bought an Icon torque wrench. Only one I could find locally that could do 25nm’s.
We dropped The Jag at my friends side hustle shop last night so it would cool down. We started tearing it down at 9 am. Gage and my son did most of the work. I helped with the symposer delete and changed the supercharger oil. Had everything buttoned up and burping the coolant by 3pm. Helps when Gage does at least one Landie a month at his day job.

We capped the small pipe coming off the symposer valve.

Apparently knee pads are required to take out the heater manifold pipe.

The heater manifold is at the back of the engine bolted to the two heads. The hot water goes from the manifold to the heater core.
Gage called the front crossover pipes the Y pipe and the A pipe.

That sounds like what seems to be called the rear crossover pipe. It sits right under the large wiring harness at the back of the engine behind the supercharger. Is that the one you are referring to?

So the thin plastic tube that has me a bit baffled is shown in the photos. Sorry probably not the easiest to see. It's rather small in diameter, plastic, and comes out of the top of the transmission and connects to a bracket that's part of the wiring harness. It does a little loop and is open at the end. It has the pink stripe on it in the photos. Curious if anyone knows what the heck this is? I can't tell if it should go somewhere, if I broke it or if it's just maybe a vent and it's supposed to be open on the end?? Kind of a mystery and I'm not sure how to search for it on the web.

There is a transmission Vent (I think?) that comes up at the rear of the engine and has two 90 degree bends in it and attaches to nothing. When I did the rear water manifold I found it and posted a question to find out if it was suppose to be connected to anything. This is on all of the cars that use the 8 speed ZF.
Note mine has blue paint dabs on it.
Also note that stainless steel clip inside the red circle. That is the bottom clip for one of the secondary bulkheads that such a SOB to remove and install.

Oh how I wished my XJ had such easy access as those with an F-Type or a 6 cylinder. It's a bear with a V-8 and the hood that opens from the front of the car!
