Default 2016 F-Type R wheel offsets.

My 2016 F-Type R has the "Blade" rims.
(5-spoke, split-spokes with carbon fiber inserts, charcoal, machined, 20" diameter, 9" width in front and 10.5" rear.)

I believe their offsets are 55 front and 38 rear -- although I haven’t been able to verify that anywhere. Anyone here certain of that?

I ask because I am about to have a set of aftermarket rims made for winter tires for our Minne-snow-ta winter weather here in the The Minneapple.

(Our winters are very hard on wheel finish, so we go with completely powder-coated, no machined surfaces. That finish holds up best against our winters.)

(Mine will be matte black 5-spokes with gloss black lips. Old-school “mag” style.)

(Don’t get me wrong, I don’t drive this gorgeous GT in snowstorm conditions, but I’m perfectly OK with driving my all-aluminum beauty on decent winter days. I miss her after a while.)

Since the kind of handling we need during winter driving here is so significantly different than the kind of handling we all prefer during summer driving, I’m therefor having these winter rims made 19" diameter -- so as to have taller sidewalls on my winter tires.

Further, winter tires perform winter driving needs better if they’re a bit narrower. (I’ll use 255-40-19 Nokians.) So I’ll have the rear wheels made the same width as the fronts, 9”.

(That also affords rotating them front-to-back season to season, as a bonus.)

My question is this:

What offset should those rims have?

Indeed the offsets for the 20x9 and 20x10.5 are 55 and 38, respectively. To leave the wheel faces in the same relative position for the 19x9 wheels would be 55 and 19, front and rear respectively.

Thanks. I'm thinking I'd like the rears to use the same offsets, so I can rotate them front-to-back.

Any reason to not use the 55 offset 19 x 9s on the rear?

Thanks again.

Only the appearance. There will be an additional 1.5" fender overhang in the rear.

Thanks, again, Unhingd,

I think I'm OK with that 1.5-inch fender overhang.

Do you -- or does anyone else -- think that will look stomach-turning fugly?

I suspect it wil, but not reasonable for me to say since I’ve never done it. I believe, though, that one or two others have done this. Hopefully, they will weigh in on this.

The way for you to judge would be to put one of your front wheels on the rear to see what it will look like.

The F-Type is like a beautiful woman - you can forgive a few minor imperfections ....

Thanks again, Unhingd. Your suggestion to have a look at one of the front wheels moved to the rear is great idea.

Beautiful viewpoint, scm. I'll love her even as she ages. Perhaps more so. And I like your sign-off line, "lots of toys and loads of noise!"
