Default 2016 F-Type S Coupe off to dealer for repairs @ 300 miles

300 miles and these are the errors.
1. "Gearbox Fault"
2. "Stability Control not available drive with care"
3. "SOS system limited functionality"

Also the LCD display and climate controls etc. flashing on and off.
$85,000 car, 300 miles and already have to drop off at dealer for repairs.

Sounds like the battery wasn't fully charged, or you have a loose ground...

sorry to hear...is it me or has the number of issues been more lately? maybe it's related to the 2016 changes, retooling of the plant? seems like the 2014/2015 have been better in terms of quality?

I was getting similar codes on the drive home from my purchase. It fixed itself, then they came back and I got a trickle charger and they went away. Then they came back and I got a reflash of the transfer module and a new battery and so far they have not come back.

I would recommend a new battery. It really does help. The cars are extremely sensitive to weak batteries, even if they test as fine.

I've had this message displayed twice on my 2015, both times were right after starting the car after it had been sitting for a few days.

I don't use a trickle charger, so it does seem to be tied to the battery's charge level.

Dropped car off at dealer tonight and showed service writer photos of error codes and video of LCD screen flashing on and off. As he was finishing up the car runner came into office and stated he can't move car because it won't start. Hopefully all the error codes are related to the faulty battery. Saturday when I purchased the F-Type for my wife I noticed all the Jaguars in the showroom were all hooked up to battery tenders. I asked our sales rep about this and he said Jaguar requires all vehicles on showroom floor must be connected to battery tender.

Thanks for all the replies. I love forums!

Picked car up from dealer today, said loose battery cable was the culprit. I guess I'm not surprised. Dealer had battery connected to battery tender on showroom floor and probably not inspected when they disconnected to make sure connection was secure. I guess it doesn't matter if you purchase an $85,000 Jaguar or a $20,000 Polaris RZR. Poor dealer pre inspection is universal.

I would rather have the dealer do nothing than screw up my car trying to "correct" something that probably doesn't need whatever they plan on doing. I always tell them not to touch it until after I take delivery. Be happy some monkey didn't over torque the cable with a pair of vice grips.
