I think they have to take the rocker panels off in order to bolt the side skirts on.

I should add this to retro fit to a R.

So they're going to have the take them off in order to remove the existing items.

I recently traded in my '15 base coupe with the design pack for a '16 R coupe and I like the new sills. They look much better in person than in photos, particularly on a dark colored car (which may be the key). From the side view they actually look better, and from a 3/4 angle, thicker and more "GT" style... Don't knock it until you have tried it.

Ultimately though, it's purely a matter of opinion... which we are all entitled to.

If this price includes painting, parts and labor it sounds very reasonable. My former '15 base had this option fitted by the dealer and from what they told me, the process was quite labor intensive. It did require removal of the rocker panel and all interior parts that are attached to it.

No offense to anyone, but I think the 2016 sills ruin the design purity of the car. I'm actually surprised that Ian Callum allowed it because it was clear that the smaller black sills and diffuser were meant to lighten the look of the car and make it look more dynamic. Now it looks too heavy ...

While I prefer the no-sill look and initially didn't like the change on the '16 sills, I also recently saw them in person at the PA/MD/NJ gathering of owners recently.

I actually liked the way they looked in person.

Agree completely...have seen many in person and they make the car look bloated, especially on lighter colors...totally ruins the look for me.

Shocked Ian Callum signed off on those...

He must like them a lot because they are also on the Project 7 and appear to be on the forthcoming SVR.

Hmm... Probably the marketing department, rather than the designer.
