Default 2017 F-Type R or SVR

So I know that I am getting a 2017 F-Type after my last test drive. I was originally going down the path of an R. But then I started looking at SVRs. Unfortunately, there are no SVRs for sale even remotely close to me to check out. That, coupled by the current lockdown, if I were to proceed, might end up purchasing something from across the country, sight unseen (for the right price, and I'm hoping prices go down due to lack of sales). For those hat have driven both the R and the SVR, is there a huge difference? It is hard to tell on paper, obviously the bigger hp, lighter, and slight styling difference. (Note, the ones I am looking at in my budget do not have the ceramic brakes). As far as price goes, I am seeing about a $17-$20k price difference between a used R and an SVR from 2017 with similar miles and comparable condition/features. That's not a small amount, so really wondering if it is worth it. Any current R owners wish they chose an SVR instead? Also wondering (I know there is no way to tell) if the SVR will hold value better than an R? It just feels a bit more special/unique to me, but again $20k isn't something I can easily justify.

Was where you are now back in January and was also torn between choosing a 2017 R or SVR. Most available SVR options carried an average price difference of $15K over R variants with similar mileage and remaining warranty. The SVR is without question the better vehicle but in my opinion but not 15K better. The 25 extra HP is nice but not enough of a gain to make it a no brainer, different call if it was 50 HP or more. I actually preferred most of the SVR's exterior and interior styling cues with the exception of the rear spoiler. The difference maker for me was the ability to chose from around 75 R's across the country compared to only 12 SVR's at the time. Finding the color combinations and wheel options were a higher priority for me. If the price was within 8K of each other I would probably own an SVR. Future resale values are kind of a crystal ball approach now due to the current financial uncertainty, I defer to RacerX : ) Good luck with your efforts.

Thanks! And have you for a second regretted not having an SVR as your roar down with the R?
Is it proper etiquette if I ask you what you paid for the 2017 R (sorry new to this forum thing)? I'm currently being offered around $55k (for either coupe or convertible with vision and black pack, around 25kmiles).

I owned a '14S and '17 SVR. Would absolutely choose the SVR over the R. Especially as a used vehicle. Pricing will be somewhat more, but there is a difference visually and in feel. The diamond stitched seats are awesome. The spoiler stands out just enough. The horsepower difference IS minimal and likely not noticed. I believe value will hold a little more on the SVR as they are much more niche.

I actually sold my SVR 2 days before the country got locked down. It's for sale in Atlanta through the dealer that purchased from me. White convertible. If you want all the details on it shoot me a message.

It was a vert. It appears to have sold as it is no longer on the dealer website. Hennessy Jag in Duluth. I don't see it on Cargurus any longer either.
