Default 2017 Web Configurator available

Seems a bit broken per usual, only more so - adding the black pack to the base premium adds $12K of everything including the full leather and carbon roof! You would think that given this is likely to be the first point of customer contact they'd have got it right by now.

Old news, but interesting to note (the numbers appear all on the same page) that the lowly no option bottom line base auto is quicker 0-60 that the 'S' *Manual* by 0.2 secs, and costs at least $17K LESS. Oh, sure the 'S' has other stuff but in the bang for the buck dept, the base does well.

Yep, and still one hell of a good deal.

Will be interesting to see how 0-60 numbers change when Lance finally defeats the clutch sponge-o-matic device on the manual.

Lance, maybe you should try some runs for before/after comparisons.

You might have missed it, but he did successfully destroy that with a drill a couple of weeks ago. Now the delay is gone, but clutch slippage is more prominent.

And still can't order an R with any of the nice rims. Glad I didn't wait.

Doh! You're right, I was thinking of the short shifter.

I am also very glad I did not wait. That IRR windshield seems like a waste and a likely problem for radar detectors.

I played around with the configurator last night.

I was surprised by a few things:

1. The entry level Base is very bare-bones and very few options can be had, unless you upgrade to the Premium Base

2. Many of the options for a Premium Base come bundled... play with it and watch the price go up! For sh*ts and giggles, I entered all of the options my old '15 Base Coupe had and and it came out to an astonishing $10K more than what I paid at the time... this will make the highly optioned used market a great value over new.

Whoever bought my low mileage, optioned out Base Coupe got one hell of a bargain vs. buying the same car in '17 !!!

3. "S" pricing also seems higher than in previous MY's. Same thing with the bundles. A fully optioned AWD S is only a few thousand less than an R... this makes the R a little more attractive and justifiable. RWD S still about 10K less.

4. The R optioned the same as my '16 came out to be about $1,200 more which I didn't find too crazy.

But again, middle of the range seems very pricey with options vs. previous model years.

+1. The clutch might still be slipping, but with over 420 horses, I'm probably running even with any V6S out there, automatic or not. As soon as the short shifter is in place and I have a good clutch built, I was indeed planning on doing some runs on a local drag strip this summer.

One the V6, I think you may have fallen victim to bugs in the configurator - it seems (in error I hope) to add a slew of options when you add a seemingly innocent one, like the exterior black pack automatically adds performance seats, extended leather, carbon roof etc etc to the tune of $12K. Maybe they'll fix it...

Hmmm . . . perhaps we should find out if you can get to 60 faster than an untuned base auto. I have no doubts you have more top-end.

I configured a 2017 just exactly like my 2016 S manual. Came out $3600 higher. I love my 2016! Feels like an even better value.

After subtracting the carbon fiber roof that the configurator kept adding, duplicating my loaded '16 with an equal Premium '17 would cost $3,700 extra. Configurator wanted to add red interior if I went with the glass roof.

Played with the configurator again, and it looks like my '16 loaded Base would only be up $1,500 for '17. The configurator keeps adding in the $2,200 Extended Upper Leather Environment. And it likes adding the Carbon Fiber roof with most of the interior upgrades, but if you switch back to the glass roof, it adds in the Red interior. Talk to your dealer.

My V6S AWD that is currently on order came out $1000 more than 2016. But all of the options are the same price (though I'm not entirely certain about the premium+vision pack). The difference is just the base price of the car.
