Default 2021 Active Exhaust

I'm seeing on some videos that the active exhaust on the 2021 R seems to make this sort of high pitched squeak when the exhaust reaches the 3500rmp threshold - is that true?

Never experienced what you have described.

Can you post a couple of those videos?

OK without having to watch those goofs... Can you give us a minute marker of where to listen for this?
It honestly could just be distortion.

It's all over the video and they point it out more towards the end. But those goofs put out some great content

I have never heard any kind of squeaking like that in my '22 F-Type R

There are other, more serious reviewers I watch. But I do watch them sometimes. They are entertaining. Fitting boxes in the trunk and pulling out the sun visors are probably important to some people.

I think the boxes and sunvisors are clearly one of their running jokes...but anyway, do you guys feel like the build quality of the Ftype is up to par? I've got a 992 911 in my garage and and am looking to add an F type but some of the quality and reliability issues are making me a little nervous

What reliability issues? Bear in mind that most people who post on fora have tales of woe - if the car is running fine there's no time for the internet - you're out there driving! The F-Type is my 4th Jaguar and they've all been as reliable as other cars I've had (mainly Nissan, who have a reputation for reliability).

I dunno if you'd be the best judge for reliability? Doesn't seem like you keep any for more than a couple years lol

Ya but at the same time, if something is gonna go wrong, it's usually within the first couple years.

I have owned 5 Jaguars (see signature) from 1991 to current. My daily driver is a '17 XJL and I took delivery of my '22 F-Type R in September. Across all of those Jaguars, new and old, I have only ever had 1 mechanical issue...and I created it. So, while I would certainly be found guilty, in a court of law, of being an absolute Jag fanatic (who could be accused of "overlooking" minor annoyances from time to time) I can honestly say, my Jaguars have been exceedingly well built and reliable. Good care/maintenance pays dividends with these cars. My 2 cents.

I bought my 2001 XK8 in 2007 with 60,000 miles on it, and kept it for two years during which the only issue I had was a split coolant expansion tank (known issue). I swapped it for a higher mileage 2004 XKR and the only issue I had with that was a dodgy battery and a burst oil pipe which at 90,000 miles I didn't think was too bad.I I kept that car for 4 years and then changed it in 2013 for a 2010 XKR which was great. It developed a wiring fault early on that was fixed under the sales warranty, and it needed a new water pump. I kept that for 5 years and then got my F-Type in 2018 at a year old and 1300 (yeah, you read that right!) miles. Issues: slightly leaky front diff and cargo cover instability, both fixed under warranty. So most kept for longer than 2 years, and all but the F-Type fairly high mileage, but reliable, nevertheless. I'll let you be the judge of whether I'm a good judge!

No squeaking from the exhaust in my 2021 F Type R either. As has been discussed in some previous posts, the exhaust system does seem to "break in" as mileage increases. I'm now at about 2500 miles and without being in the Dynamic mode but with the exhaust button set to open and the transmission in the manual mode I can get quite satisfying bangs, pops and crackles from the exhaust while driving on twisty roads holding the revs above 4000 and then letting off of the throttle.

So I actually had exactly this on a 21 F-Type R and I was wondering what it was! I managed to capture it on video... is this what you're talking about?:

Only seems to happen on a full pull from standing, in first. You'll see on the second pull with a softer roll-in it doesn't happen
