Default 2021 F-Type R V*

Hello. New to the forum. Just purchases 2021 F-Type R V8. Love it !! Would love if anyone has any secrets or tips about the car. Always wanted one!!! Got it in black w/ black interior. It is in service currrently as the "check oil level" on the menu continues to say "unavailable".
Other than that, so far - so good !! Any comments would be welcomed ! Thank U !

You have to wait at least 10 minutes with engine turned off on a level surface. Then turn on power but don’t restart engine to check oil level. If it says “overfilled,” you’ll need to have it checked at your dealer.

Actually there is a way to check the oil level without waiting the 10 minutes. I don't recall the exact steps required, but it involves a cat and a paper sack and some string--no, seriously, it involves opening the hood (or bonnet if you are in the UK), turning on the ignition without starting the engine and pressing a couple buttons. I had to show my service advisor the technique on my old 2018 model because I insisted on viewing the oil level before departing the dealership as they had overfilled it on previous occasions.

Press the ON switch WITHOUT FOOT ON BRAKE, Press the button on the lever on the left side of your SteeringWheel, switching through the AMPG, MPH, and eventually finding "Check Oil", if you do turn your car on youll have to wait 10minutes and do the steps I stated. Although this is how I do it on my USA N/A V8 XF 2012. Im sure they are the same steps, if not open your Book and look in the Index for "check oil" and obviously go to the page and read. Its a fast reading.

I will have to find out that method. As mentioned already it usually takes a good 10 minutes before you can "check" your oil level. And if you wait too long, it won't read it then either. It appears to me that there is a very small window to check the oil level with the traditional method on this car.

The easiest and most accurate way: check the oil in the morning before you start the engine. This give a true reading of the oil level in the sump because ample time has been allowed for the oil to return to the sump - the “return to the sump” factor is why Jaguar insists on *at least* a 10 minute wait. Checking the oil without that wait time can give a false low reading and a potential subsequent overfill.

This. You can check it when the car is cold just by turning the ignition on and going into the menu as you usually do. There are some that will argue the stone cold reading is not the same than a "10 minutes after ignition off" reading, which is probably true. The cold reading could be slightly higher since the oil has had more time to drain back in the sump, but the 10-minute hot reading could also be slightly higher because of the expansion of the liquid oil under temperature. However, both of these amounts are relatively minuscule and the more important things here are safe range and trend. I always read mine stone cold and it's always to the top of the safe range, just below the first red 'overfill' mark. So for me, any deviation from that is a trend I need to watch.

Welcome and congrats. Just a tip, no need to call it an F Type R V8... The R only has a V8. Lol hahaha

Pull the active exhaust fuse, you wont regret it.

The procedure to get the live oil level reading starts at step 9 of the oil change procedure…
