Default 55mm Supercharger Pulley

Hey F-Type Guys. I'm posting this here instead of my usual X351 section because XJ Guys don't mod their engines as much as you lot.

I know the usual sizes for the reduced supercharger pulleys from the usual suppliers are 60.5mm or 62mm. I recently noticed a guy on ebay selling a 55mm pulley. He claims it was made by RDE Autosports (which appears to be out of business) for the Jag 5.0 SC engine. Does anybody know anything about this? Is a 55mm upper pulley even safe?

It’s impossible. It won’t fit over the nose of the supercharger.

There is a manufacturer that has a 55mm pulley and it comes with a snout shaving kit.

Makes more sense to just install the crank pulley. At 55mm the diameter of that pulley is getting small enough to cause belt issues.

I agree with that. Of course moving up to the next size supercharger is even better (for a V6) R1740

I was unaware of this, but it appears that Eaton is abandoning the R1320 and R1650 and replacing both with the R1740 which did not exist before. I tried to buy an R1650 but Eaton refused to sell that into the aftermarket and would only ship to car manufacturers. I will check to see if they are willing to sell one-offs of the R1740 to their aftermarket dealers.

Thanks. That’s where I’ll source it when I’m ready for that upgrade.

Tried Magnuson for the R1650. They couldn’t help me.

How much work would have to be done to the intake manifold and to make the larger SC bolt up?

No clue. Hopefully the dealer can provide drawings. I suspect a new transition plenum will need to be machined.
