Default Aftermarket exhaust options

2017 F-Type V6 S
Unfortunately my exhaust valves are stuck closed and my car sounds like a 2003 Corolla. I’m seriously considering aftermarket mufflers as dealer wants $5k (Cnd) for a stock muffler.
i know VAP makes one, has anyone tried another manufacturer?
is there a list of options someone can provide?

And finally- how can I hear theses systems before investing?

As always appreciate the input!

5k, lol, wow…Only to have the valve problem happen again and not be able to easily service them…Fun

I’ve been looking around at exhausts as well. The sound on YouTube videos of different products is generally so horrible that I’ve come to the conclusion that a leap of faith, and a reliance on reviews and reputation, will be required one way or the other.

Stuart from Velocity AP, as I’m sure you know, is quite active on the forum. I’ve talked to him on the phone a few times recently and he is incredibly helpful. They are a sponsor here and their reputation seems pretty solid. Me being Canadian, I also like that they are a Canadian company.

I’ve pretty much decided I’m going to purchase something from them when I’m ready to take it on, despite knowing there are some other options I could look at. Thunder Dump on the forum gave me a bit of a direct glowing review of his experience with their valvetronic back box on his v8, so his impressions were certainly helpful to me.

No doubt their v6 product would be amazing.

Cheers

Supersprint is another forum sponsor with highly regarded exhaust systems.

https://www.velocityap.com

You could look on there somewhere for one of their authorized dealers/installers, or I suppose ask Stuart for a recommended installer near you.

VAP is also Canadian, but they’re out west.

Supersprint is a forum sponsor that makes quality products, as well.

Group buy! + 20% off upper and lower pulleys for the person who suggested it first

I can say I have sets of header to axle on SuperSprints on some of the garage mates and they a quite the lovely experience... I'd be interested in what a little more symphony vs. Machine-gun howitzer sounds on this car.

Just to add to the option paralysis, I personally have a preference for the sound of the Quicksilver and the Paramount exhausts.

Those are some wack looking exhaust tips there in the first video ;-o Sounds pretty good though based on the video.

If those 2 videos can be accurately compared, which I’m not necessarily sure is the case, the Paramount one sounds better to my ear than the Quicksilver. Hard to say for sure based on these videos, but that is my feeling.

Agree although the Quicksilver sounds pretty deep and sinister on the overrun. Hate the tips on the Paramount, but think it sounds the best.

We all have different tastes/goals, but if I had one of the older cars without the GPF filter there is no doubt in my mind that the stock setup would completely satisfy me and then some. Because that is not the case I definitely feel the need to do a little something something in order get my car a little more in the direction of the older ones (without messing with cats and GPFs at all).

As not great as these GPFs are, I’ve seen many comments out there saying the GPFed Jags are nowhere near as bad as the BMWs and the like. I would have to agree, so we can thank our lucky stars that it is not that bad, and that it can be improved on a bit even further without doing anything too drastic.

Looks like I'm ready to pull the trigger on a new exhaust.
its down to the quicksilver and the paramount.
i think they both sound great, but there’s a substantial difference in price-(Canadian dollars)
Quicksliver $4250
Paramount $2650
(uninstalled)
leaning to the paramount unless someone can sway me otherwise?

appreciate the input!

Again, I think there will be a leap of faith involved regardless of what you do. I really don't think any of these videos truly capture how these things sound, and certainly not relative to one another...Different recording levels, tools, environments, quality, etc... I'm making my decision based on feedback and impressions from people on the forum who actually own them. I feel that is the best route, but those are just my thoughts.

Another thing I would say is that when I was researching I saw some info out there suggesting that VAP's products are generally very well done in terms of fitment. There have been some accounts out there that suggest some products aren't so accurate in this way. If you are not installing it yourself then you may not care about this. Hard to say how much of a problem this could be, but it was something I read. Just thought I'd mention that...

Good luck. Be interested to know what you finally end up going with...

OMG, you know you can tune an exhaust, just listen to ANY Mustang or Ferrari or any exotic. People ALWAYS seem to get caught up in how it costs, my DB9 got a lot of attention at car shows and I spent less than $800 at a Midas shop. Every engine will sound different, whether it be a 15 or 16 5.0 or 14 or 15 3.0. EVERY engine is unique, I have had a SuperSprint on my Evora (which I loved), but at the end of the day, my Borla muffler routed my way on my DB9 was incredible and Borla said it would not fit my car.

Another option is to get used, and maybe swap to the V8-style quad tips. That'd need the diffuser as well, but it's been done successfully.

There will be a LOT of debate on this. I can attest from my own personal experience/knowledge that I love the tone / performance benefits from the Velocity AP exhaust system. Tagging @Stuart@VelocityAP here for any questions you might have. He has direct personal experience with other 3rd party exhausts, and I feel like the lengths to which they have gone to engineer their product, speaks volumes. Just my 2 cents on the matter. Again, lots of debate here, but a local Canadian company, who truly will stand behind their products and services.
