Mmmm, looks like dealership/Castrol monopoly is over for those who are out of warranty or want to DIY.

Not really from what I can tell.
Castrol is still less money and more available. (for in person pickup).
Plus its proven.
For the others to make any sense they would have to be half the price of Castrol.

HOWEVER, Castrol themselves have released that oil in a over-the-counter version and Jaguar has approved it in our 5.0 engines.

Quick check: what fuel do you guys use in your reassuringly expensive automobiles?

I understand some engines will continue to work for some time if you use used vegetable oil instead of the recommended lubricants (Castrol were originally a supplier of Castor Oil for automotive use), but sometimes exercising one’s “freedom to choose” is synonymous with “shooting yourself in the foot”?

We must realize where the lack of freedom originates from:
Those of you not in USA will be shocked to discover, none of those 3 other oils are available in the USA at all!! Even Worst, Mobil and Motul are American companies.

So be very thankful, Castrol went to the effort to design and supply this oil. Its competitors wont even supply it when they did not even have to come up with the formula.
