Alternatives to the F-Type R?
You may give up a few .10ths in raw speed, but the suspension on a Lotus Evora S is VASTLY superior to the oversprung (oversteering) F Type. 2016 will bring a host of upgrades to the car as well. If Tata was wise and bought Lotus, they would have access to the brainchild for suspensions that is Lotus.
Out of the box it is a serious track car quite capable of neutralizing a lot of horsepower.
BTW drove the F Type and passed on it. Had a 2012 XK that got run over by a pickup truck. Decided not to replace it because my Evora (either one) had a vastly more comfortable ride. Wife didn't want it anymore either. I loved my tuned motor but didn't like the overly harsh ride. Rear springs were TOO stiff. Just thoughts of someone else in the crowd. BTW the suspension on our new Evoque is more GT like than the XK ever was! Our 2004 XJ VDP was a superlative luxury car with an appropriate suspension. Not sure how they could get a sports car so wrong. Just look up all the pro drivers complaints about drifting car, oversteer , steering corrections etc. Its out there!

I was looking at an Evora for a long time. The uncertainty of the company is the only thing that stopped me from purchasing. I too was completely surprised at how comfortable the ride was. Great car. This was in 2011. I would consider the new Evora 400 if Proton keeps pumping money into them. I really wish they went forward with the concepts from 2010. The Elan would have been in the same price bracket as the R.
The McLaren 540C was revealed and is coming to the US at a price point of $165k. Essentially the same thing as the 570S but with 533hp and softer springs.
In becoming the "most attainable McLaren yet" the new coupe cedes a bit to the 570S, getting by with 533 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque from the company-standard 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 instead of 562 hp and 443 lb-ft as found in the 570S. The run from 0-62 miles per hour takes 3.5 seconds, up 0.3 seconds from its sibling, and top speed is 199 mph, down five mph.
Say what you will, but I'm dropping my V8s F Type at the Chevy dealer tomorrow. Trading for Z06 Conv. Had the F for almost 2 yrs. time to move on. Went from Ferrari to Jag to now Chevy. So much for snob appeal. But 650 hp
Same with my 350Z Lol... Although, I'm actually thinking of keeping it and making a dedicated track car out of it... 230k miles and other than a new clutch, no major repairs. I can only hope the F-Type is that reliable.
variety is the spice of life! congrats on the Z06. Not my type of car but definitely understand the appeal.
keep it. probably not worth much selling it. unless storage/parking is an issue. I'm guessing insurance (liability only) would be dirt cheap.
