Really, what is up with that?? It looks like it has the hardware on the flap side, but there is just a hole where the slidelock should be. I'm not as worried about someone siphoning as I am about someone f'n with it and putting something IN.

A lot of people complain about this, you're not alone. Personally I've never really understood the concern; i think the likelihood of anyone screwing with the gas cap is much lower than them keying your car or otherwise.

Shhhh. The less we talk about this, the less that outsiders know that the caps don't lock. Most people assume that all caps are locked.

LOL, thanks guys!
Serendipitously, I just saw that this came up on another thread:

With the part number we can order from Land Rover Parts and Jaguar Spares | Britcar UK Ltd as this part will not be available in the states. It is very likely that the harness connector is still in place as Foosh suggests, but I'm wondering whether one of the computers needs to be flashed to send a signal to that connector. This has gotten way OT. I will move to new Thread
Unhingd, did you ever figure this out??

I thought I saw a key locking gas cap selling on U.K. eBay for ftype. After reading the listings don't think this will ship or work on US models.

I had the part number all figured out and was getting ready to look for the connector behind the interior panel, but abandoned the project when it became probable that some sort of SDD programming would be required to activate functionality.

Doesnt the flap lock when the car is locked? I'm sure mine does, or I might be confusing it with the XE.

Damn, and I thought it was locking when I locked the car. This is an example of ignorance was bliss. Now, in addition to worrying about idiot drivers running into me, crazy kids trying to race me, jealous jerks keying my car, now it's the ol' sugar in the gas tank that will occupy my fevered imagination........where the hell is the Xanax?

Bruce, your gas lid locks.
Halcyon, yours does not.
The non-locking gas lid appears to be unique to the US.

You're more optimistic than me. The Brits are pissed over something we did to them, and now they're screwing with us.

I would happily give up my locking fuel flap for the price advantage you Yanks enjoy!
You pay well less than half what we Aussies do for any F-Type, new, used, base, S, R, you name it.

No need to worry, you won't syphon a drop of petrol out of the tank...I have tried when I needed a cup or two to try and start an old motorbike of mine.
With a full tank of juice and a nice long length of flexible pipe, try as I might, I couldn't get a drop out!

Sugar! Isn't that an urban myth?

Anyway, if my petrol was a cheap as you guys I wouldn't complain about a thing. When it's around 1.2 Bucks a Litre, then we will listen to y'all ;-)

Try $180K AU for a base with a few options then up to $340K AU for a loaded R or an SVR!

Beer used to be cheap here 20 years ago, but the Gummint has gradually ramped the alcohol tax up over the years so it's no longer cheap, and I suspect it's quite a bit more expensive than Euro or US beer. All mainstream Oz beer comes mainly in 375 mm cans or bottles, but some now come in "Euro" 330 mm bottles, as does nearly all boutique brewery beer. We still have 750 mm "long neck" bottles in some beers but they are slowly but surely fading away. The larger 500 mm cans commonly available in Europe and the US are quite rare in Oz.
Moral of the story - in Oz pretty much all the good things in life, like beer and Jags, are taxed to the hilt.
