Annoying Banner Ads
Is it just my computer or are others getting annoying banner adds at the top of these forum pages. The three that keep popping up on every thread are a creepy looking guy hawking BitCoin, a disgusting picture of someone injecting oil into their ear, and a wifi router that can reach to the moon. Not only will the first two cause nightmares, but all 3 take up half the screen requiring additional keystrokes to get to the unread message button. (can you spell curmudgeon?)
I use Opera as my browser and it has a built in ad blocker which you can turn on or off as you please.
I also have Adblock Plus running in parallel with no conflicts.
Between them they block 99% of ads and banners, although I still have a single unchanging ad banner at the top of this forum - Knightspeed F-Type wireless phone charger - which beats me as to how or why it is not blocked.

Not getting the banner ads but I am getting the instructions on how to use the website every fricken time I log in. What’s worse is that the exit button to dismiss the instructions doesn’t work.

Ad free zone here thanks to Adblock Plus but I do find that more and more sites are detecting it now and force you to turn it off if you want to look at their content.

+1
Funnily enough, a couple of minutes after I posted above about the Knightspeed banner I noticed it had a red X on the top right corner so I clicked on it and the banner disappeared.
So far, after several closings and reopenings of Opera during the day and going to and from this forum, and even after rebooting the 'puter, it has not reappeared.
The only thing I haven't tried is to log out of the forum then log back in again.
No instructions here.

Same here. As for sites that require ads to view - There has to be a really compelling reason for me to turn off adblocking.
couldn’t find that one on US App Store, but ended up with Norton’s for iPad. Works great- interesting thing is this thread’s URL is blocked, but all others work. It also shuts off the side bar ads. (Posting this from iPhone)
