Another Tire Question
I bought my 2014 F-Type S about a year ago with about 9,800 miles on it.
It currently has about 11,800 miles on it.
The car had P-Zero's on it with good tread all around. I do not know if they were the original Tires or not.
I do know that I could hardly step on the accelerator with out the rear getting really squirrelly.
Due to circumstances I recently had to replace a rear tire and chose to replace both rear tires with Michelin Power Super Sports after reading several threads on this forum.
I can tell you the difference in traction is unbelievable. These things are so much better.
Now my question. I still have P-Zero's on the front and they still have plenty of tread.
Do you guys think it is ok to run the car with mixed manufacturer's tires like this or should I replace the front tires with MPSS's?
Thanks.

+1. That's the general advice. However, you can adjust your driving to accommodate for the difference in traction characteristics. I, personally, wouldn't sacrifice the value in the remaining front tread to maximize cornering speed. Those Pirellis will wear out soon enough.

There are now even better tires than MPSS that just came out Pilot Sport 4S.
Front tires are even more important for car handling than rears, however this is for track use. With your existing setup car will understeer at the limit, if you never drive at the limit you will not experience this.

Lesser tires on the front equal understeer which I hate. Oversteer I can handle; the nose wanting to go forward not so much.
I'd upgrade the fronts if that is what you are experiencing in spirited driving around corners/sweeps.
Never heard it mentioned here but I believe it always makes sense to keep a spare front and rear around (even worn out ones). Always nice to have access to a spare tire, somewhere, in a rush.

I go against the "common sense" here and say you are fine. You are on a staggered set, the front and the rear are not the same size tires. Secondly unless you track the car I doubt you will "feel" any adverse handling characteristics from finishing the P Zeros on the front. Is it ideal? No, the tires definitely have different rubber compositions and different temps at which they get hard or extra soft but again just for spirited driving you are fine, on the track or on the Autobahn probably not but on public roads here in the US ... you are not testing the limits of these tires except for the rears for when you floor it.

+1... had P-Zero on front while waiting for Pilot 4S for rear. Definitely felt difference... like wearing a different shoe on each foot. After getting all 4 matching ... I am very impressed with the 4S. I would highly recommend getting a four wheel alignment if you haven't already. Alignment was way off from factory.
