Default Any features/options in 2017 F-Type R that was not there in 2016?

The reason I am asking is this:

BaT accepted my 2016 car for auction and I am preparing my video. I want to be able to say there's no real difference between a 2016 and a 2017, and thus, no reason to pay a premium for a 2017.

I need to be correct.

( For a 2018 to later, of course there's differences...)

TIA.

I think only some minor styling in the front air dams and interior chaged. Mechanically I don't think there were any differences. Images here: https://www.carwow.co.uk/news/3349/2...complete-guide

Here's a feature comparison: https://cars.usnews.com/cars-trucks/...5_12943-373967

Offtopic but I was watching today's CarsAndBids auction of a very clean 2016 F-Type R with 5,400 miles. It went for $65k! Good luck on your sale.

Didn't they update the infotainment system a bit in the 2017? And isn't 2017 the start of when they upgraded the coolant hoses and lines?

When did they switch to electric power steering? 2018?

Coolant lines were updated in 2016. Infotainment updated in 2018.

But let's take a moment to talk about your T/A...

That CarWow article is strange. It says it is from January 2017, and shows the 2018 facelift we all know of. The 2017 cars showing up on BaT look like Original F-Type R styling.

Just because it's on the next don't make it true. I wonder if dude caught wind of the later-year 2017 changes for the 2018 model year (which would have started shipping in late 2017) and jumped the gun, unknowingly?

thanks for everyone's responses. I feel comfortable stating the 2016s and 2017s are largely the same car. The 2017 warranties are all running out this year, as well. Making paying a premium for a 2017 over a 2016, not worth much.

The 10th digit of the VIN denotes the MY - G is MY16, H - MY17, J- MY18.

Did the '17 go to soft buttons on the touchscreen, or was that '18? My 2016 definitely has the smaller touchscreen with hard (physical) buttons. Also not sure when CarPlay became available. Pretty sure I don't have it in my '16, but never actually checked. I want to be less connected when in my car.

'18 was the mid-cycle 'refresh' as it were. LED headlamps, different infotainment (but still hard buttons on sides--'19 got the 10" screen with the soft buttons across the bottom along with CarPlay).

I believe (but am willing to be corrected) some later MY18s got the 10" screen as there was a software update applied to MY18s to enable CarPlay and Android Auto, which was subsequently rescinded for the 8" screen versions.. Guess how I know ....

Not so sure I am selling on BaT now. They are taking forever even just to respond to the most basic of emails. I am ready to get this car sold. If I wait for them it would be mid to late September before they finally auction it.

Check the classifieds (sorry for the plug) for a great new walk around and drive video with some actual semi-decent production values. My previous video sucked, I know.

also a link to a ton of pix--including underside.

Tell that friend who has been lusting over your F-Type.

Not really, I like the physical buttons, am not an Apple user, and I'm not bothered about Android Auto.

Over the past few years, I've sold 5 cars on BaT, going back to when it was considered really brave to use BaT to sell a car, and what I can tell you is that their service has gone from from Jaguar good to Tesla hideously bad. They are rudely and arrogantly slow now for moving along your auction and the people helping you have gone from caring knowledgeable car people to completely incompetent and lying idiots that have no idea how their own site works and consider you to be less of a customer and more of a pest.

My experience so far on Cars and Bids has been stellar. So I would also recommend Cars and Bids over BaT.

my biggest concern with cars and bids versus BAT, is if you look at similarly appointed cars. They sure do seem to go for a lot less money on cars and bids. It seems to just be the crowd. They’re just not really willing to pay as much as the people on BAT are

Unless the Rs received different coolant pipes than the base cars, my MY 2017 v-6 had the flanged coolant pipes. This forum helped me to get them replaced under warranty.

Yep, plenty of confirmation on here that the coolant pipes were not updated until 2018 (maybe late 2017 on some) on both V6s and V8s.

Sorry to be pedantic but the change came mid year 2018. My early year 2018 has the flanged pipes.
