Hi Everyone,

I have been in contact with Sven Tornow at Mods4cars. For those of you not familiar with his company they make great modifications to convertibles. Specifically mods that allow you the ability to use your remote to open and close the convertible top outside the car. Also, one touch open/close where you can select the convertible top switch in the car once and it will continue to open or close without your having to hold it until completion.

I had one of these Mods4cars in my 06 997 C4S Cab and loved it. In fact many others have it in their convertibles and find it one of the best mods to make to a soft top.

Anyway I contacted Sven to see if he had the Jaguar F-Type convertible in his list of completed projects and he said no, but that if someone would bring him their car he could. His business is in Las Vegas and I am sure he would hook you up if you allowed him to use your car as the testbed. I am not sure what all would be involved however he could explain it to you directly and I am positive you would love the new capabilities it would offer. So would we. I'm in Dallas but for any member in Las Vegas that may be interested in this, please get in contact with Sven.

Mods4Cars has not supported Jags with Remote Top products to date.

What time frame are you expecting to have a smart top option for the F Types?

Man would I like that. Jaguar should of did that. Maybe in the future we can get a program.

 

If an F-type owner in the DC-MD-VA area would come forward and let me have use of their F-type convertible for several weekends in the off-season this winter for development and testing in exchange for a free Remote top upgrade and use of my XK while I have your car, I can conceivably have a product by early next year.

I've got an F-Type in Vegas but I'm not sure I'd want to be without it. How much time are we talking? Does the upgrade use the factory fob or a second fob?

If you cannot find a F Type in your area may I suggest you see the local Jag dealer manager/GM and see about a loaner in exchange for discount pricing on your finished product.
