You beat me to it! (Think to use it for a part car!). Who are you, how is the car? Buying a rebuilt jag without warranty… you must have deep pockets and guts!!

I saw that on FB. At first it looked like a great price on a 400 but reading into it everything else seemed off. Rebuilt title, no history, and cash only from a no name used car dealer. Hopefully the buyer is knowledgeable about what they're getting. Best of luck

Yeah I went and saw it when the price was 26k. I walked away as it appeared the panels were not lining up correct on right side right behind the wheel and then you google the VIN and it had air bags deployed and damage right and rear etc. Used car Sales place stated, "just a small hit in the rear". Online it looked a bit more significant in the auction pictures. When i went and saw it the right drip molding was bent, the rear tailgate was not 100% correctly aligned, the spoiler was not sitting correctly and if you look at pics it was pushed out. There is a rubber weather strip between the glass roof and the tailgate that was completely missing which is odd. The car had been sat out in the rain and in fact looked like it has been mudding. The body part around the dual muffler exit was bent. Rebuilt title and cash only....So...I was a bit in shock at what I was seeing considering how dirty it was and they had driven it 2k more miles (40k+ instead of listed 38k). .... You think about it being a 2018 so likely plastic coolant pipes. Your looking at a car like this likely would need a tear down and rebuild again, 10-20k depending.

Its RWD so water ingress into the engine is REAL
So god help the guy if an injector goes bad, your going to need to pray the injectors dont break in the engine block. Never got to sit inside and the seller put up some pics inside and it actually looks great.

I wanted to go back and test drive it when they dropped the price to 21k from 26k and I had asked if I could get it on a rack and/or take it to the dealership to see what the cost would be to make is right, and....do a alignment inspection and frame/subframe inspection. They said "sure". Then sold it a few days later before I could go in. All things considered I should have gone in immediately after work and got the car to look at it.

Oh well... easy come easy go. It is what it is.

The seller put up a flashy video about the sale and another with a test drive and the buyer seemed to be a younger guy in late 20's/early 30's who had NO IDEA about the car. His questions seemed a bit off. I doubt he had the car inspected. It was a same day buy and the seller messaged me "A buyer came in and paid full price same day and took the car - sorry". Less headache for him as I was going to scrutinize the car and then offer 19.9k likely.

Of note the headlights which WILL go bad and cost 3k each were working good. the engine is worth at least 9k if in good condition. Its hard to say I bought a 18 XE S which sounded fine at 37.1k miles but by 45k needed a complete new timing chain. Thank god i bought the carmax warranty cause it was completely covered along with a steering wheel switchpack. While going into the engine 4 of 6 injectors broke and were replaced as well at eye watering prices! These engines can be in trouble with low miles...its always a risk! This one you would likely not get a warranty if you were crazy enough to call yourself (carmax offers it and does the leg work) as its rebuilt.

I was thinking of buying it for the engine/tranny for my XE-S and headlights/tail lights alone for my Ftype R. That is, unless i could renew it which would have been a fun project on a cheap car.

Again. didnt happen

Loth
