Default Anyone buy an R in the last few weeks?

I'm looking to buy a 2018 R coupe here in So Cal, but am willing to travel. There is currently an $11,000 manufacturer incentive that lasts thru Sept. I think. has anyone just bought one? what did you actually pay? thanks

This time last year there may have been more incentives but as a point of reference, many of us were able to get between 20% & 25% off the MSRP as our final # on the Rs at that tiem. I started discussions in Sept (20% off) but did not finalize my deal until early November (right at 25% off). The only reason I didn't buy in Sept was that the car I was negotiating on was supposed to have had the vision package with front and rear sensors as well as the backup camera and it turned out not to have that particular option & that was the only dealer willing to cut that deeply a that particular time. I almost bought a vehicle that had been previously punched* by the dealership

* Punched means that the car was still technically "new" but that the dealer themselves had previously registered it as "sold" to the dealership as a "demo" even though the car had less than 20 miles on it so in that case, they were simply trying to register sales in order to ensure that they hit their sales quotas. Nothing wrong with that type of thing but you will loose the months of warranty for the period it sat on the dealers showroom. In that case, the dealer was not able to offer the aggressive leasing discounts with that vehicle so I walked from it as well

Even with punched I had two dealers offer to CPO the car for $1100 or so.

UPDATE- you can get a 2018 R now for about 85k. a couple of dealers think in November it'll be better, some don't, saying 2017's big discounts were an anomaly. we'll see, i'm prepared to wait.

FWIW, the recent JLR package to shareholders noted high discounts in NA affecting financial. They noted it's running above their plan - but didn't say it was coming to an end. Presumably that would be a 2018 fiscal year statement.

$85K is inline with "as good as it got" for 2017. At least for a fully loaded R with MSRPs between $111K & $115K. About the only exception was one guy on here who picked up a "punched" '17 R for $79K on a $108K MSRP but he had to pay 100% cash as there were no financing options available at that price point.

Fully loaded 2015R low mileage mint example can be found for under $60k from a private party. Then you will own the most collectible R with the least painful depreciation curve. Also the most thrilling one (might be biased, who knows)

There are still some 2017's on the lots...reduced from $126.4K to $90.9K.

Somewhat on-topic, this week I was able to pick a 2016 R vert in the CPO program for $64k. Right at 1,800 miles when i took delivery, with warranty thru 2022 and 100k miles AND 5 annual services included. A keen observer will note the difference between this and a newer model, but for 99% of people, this example is not discernible from a brand new car. Financing was also not a problem.

Only 1800 miles? That previous owner must have garage queened it. Nice pickup.

Never thought I would see the day when an F-Type is referred to as a "pickup"!
(and yes, I know you meant "pick up").
