Default Audio help!!!

Hi Guys, after a bit of advice before I start pulling the interior of my car apart again! This one puzzles me! I decided to install a behind the seat powered subwoofer. I branched into the feed to both door woofers (the subwoofer is designed for a high signal). Connected everything up and…….no sound at all from the head unit??? The head unit comes on and looks like it’s playing but no sound at all, nothing from any speaker, never mind the sub. I haven’t touched the wiring at the head unit no I haven’t touched the wiring of the tweeters or mids in the door. I can’t see how I would have lost all sound. Even if I’ve crossed the wires at the woofer connections, they’d still work (although out of phase) and of course, so would the tweeters and mids. I’m presuming I’ve knocked a connector out somewhere, but as I’ve not been near the head unit, I can’t see how this can be the case. I also can’t see how doing anything with the speaker connections would blow a fuse and even if it did, surely it would blow the fuse to the head unit, so that would be dead, which it isn’t! I’ve also disconnected the new sub and still nothing! Any ideas?

Exactly where did you tap the speaker level wiring? No speaker level signal actually comes from the head unit, the magic all happens back at the amp. It does sound like you knocked a connector loose somewhere.

Tapped right at the woofers in the door. This is why I can’t see how I’ve knocked out a connector. I’d have had to have done that in both doors??

Ok, it’s all sorted……..although I’ve no idea what the issue was. I went back to the car, turned on the stereo and hey presto it worked. Hadn’t changed anything or reconnected anything!

Glad it worked out! For future reference the amp is behind the bulkhead on the right side of the car.
