Auxiliary Power / Cigarette Lighter Fuse Sensitivity
The 12v plug's plastic casing on my formerly trusty Viair compressor cracked, and this being cybermonday, I just bought myself a new, seemingly well reviewed, compressor off of Amazon. Only after ordering did I begin looking through some of the other specs and saw that it has a 20amp draw despite having a regular 12v plug.
My old compressor only had a 15 amp draw which never seemed like a big deal, but just in case I decided to look up how much current could pass through the auxiliary port in the center console and/or the center armrest. The owner's manual for a 2014 V8S was not immediately helpful when looking up the power connectors themselves or info on the battery. However, in consulting the fuse tables I noted that the fuses for those ports are also 20amps. Would I be tripping those fuses by plugging the newly ordered compressor into one of those sockets?
Of course, I would only use the compressor with the car's engine on and running. Though if that would still be problematic, can somebody recommend a good 120v wall outlet to 12v adapter that can handle 300-360+ watts (25-30 amps at 12v)?
As an aside, I've almost exclusively used the center armrest since the console mounted one as it seemed more physically secured to resist torque or flex when unplugging a device.
As a second aside, possibly because my V8S is my daily driver and sole wheeled vehicle, I only needed to finally replace the car's original battery about two months ago. The start/stop "eco" secondary battery battery is almost certainly long since gone and I've been happy to leave that alone.
