I have a 2016 base and mine does not beat at all. I have seen them beat since my GF has an XF and hers does the heart beat in fact I pointed it out to her a couple of years ago.

kind of miss it.

I have sat in my completely dark garage and cannot get my start button to "beat". I can clearly see it light up, and stay lit. I can also see when it's not lit, but door open, door closed, foot on brake, foot off brake, "ignition" on or off, nothing makes it "beat". It's simply "ON"
