Default Benefits of VAP 'Tune Only' on RWD R?

Anyone have 'just' a VAP tune on their RWD R? What are the advantages? Quicker off the line? Better mid-range power? Improved sound? Will I notice the extra HP or is a tune without the pulley upgrade a bit wasted on a V8?

My 2015 R RWD struggles with traction at the moment, so I wonder how much of that extra HP I'll be able to use (an imminent upgrade to Michelin PS4S rubber should help).

on my R AWD the Michelin PS4S helps absolutely with Stage 2 VAP! Best tire ever in my view...
First I have onle Stage1 on my F-Type, good I think, you can feel the power. And, round about
0,60 Sek. faster 100-200 km/h, with Stage 2 you will save round about 1,5 Sek. 100-200 km/h

I've a RWD v8, w Stage 3 tune. You are correct in assuming the added power isn't going to help your traction issues. However if you like driving the twisty bits, then the added torque you get between 3-5k rpm range is intoxicating. I can't imagine going back to stock.

More power is always good! My coupe already has a few HP on your V8S, so I wonder how much I'd really notice adding the tune alone. Did you do the mods all at once or was there a time when you just had the tune?

I added the mods piecemeal. And I do recall a noticeable difference with the tune alone. However, I have read posts on this forum from folks who were disappointed with the tune only. Tune will take you to ~600hp regardless of starting point. For me that was a 105hp increase, and was certainly noticeable.

Thanks for sharing your experience. On a bang-for-buck scale the tune alone makes more sense on the V8S.

How would you say the tune + pulley changes your driving experience?

That's a great question. Obviously the car is faster in a straight line. 11.3 1/4 mile and 3.4 0-60. But the best part for me is the low(er) RPM torque. If I can stay in 2 through 4th gear and keep my rpm range between 3-5k the car is pure bliss.

I'll add that the increased torque / hp makes an already squirrely RWD animal something to be mindful of.

I'd give the VAP tune a thumbs up. It takes an already special car into another league.

Upgrade your tires, it will be like getting a brand new car.

At road-legal speeds or "in Mexico" ?

Currently I’m on Tune only. New spark plugs and the Michelin PS4. The tune alone will Definitely have you feeling that extra torque. But once you get those wheels THATS the game changer.

you won’t regret. Get those tires ASAP.

Yep, new tyres have made a world of difference. Although, I guess almost any new rubber would have been a huge upgrade from 7 year old, barely-legal Pirellis.

New tyres fitted. Huge difference. Still thinking about the tune

Coming from a v6, the tune is definitely worth it. Butttt might as well (at least) get the lower pulley!!

I have a RWD R with a VAP tune only, and I could tell a noticeable difference from the first time I drove it. I am perfectly happy with just the tune. Try the tune; if that isn’t enough of a change for you, you can always go to stage 2 or 3. Add me to the list of PS4S fans. Bought a set a week ago, and it really does drive like a different car vs the P Zeros (and the P Zeros still had good tread).

Thanks; exactly the answer I was looking for. By coincidence we both have Italian Racing Red Rs and have just upgraded to the same tyres.
