Tune and pulley on a v6s
Asking for a friend my buddy joe I had done the supercharged oil change on his car a while back . Joe is asking me about getting his tuned and doing the pulley change also , if any one could give details on "how to " and what performance figures this would produce , car is a 2014 model , thanks George
That's a great question, I would like to know the performance figures comparison to stock also. We know the horsepower gains for the V6 and the V,8 70 hp but we haven't seen performance figures 0-60 and top speed. I've seen top speed from owners on the Autobahn, very impressive for stock motors.
IMO, looking at numbers will just disappoint. If the owner wants more performance, do it and enjoy the "feeling". However, when you turn those "feelings" into data, it tends to underwhelm and what once was a good feeling no longer is...
HP and Torque will both be around 450 with tune and crank pulley
On a v6s , that's amazing . What is the best pulley the crank or the supercharge ? What are costs like for the pulley ? Tune can be done for around £250

Id recommend checking VAPs website for further information

You may need a second pint to get through it all, but you'll soon get a feel for where the real data is and what posts to skip.

For a V6 with an auto transmission you will need to hold the crank from turning to loosen and reinstall the crank pulley bolts. I used a rubber strap wrench on the OEM pulley but you can use the large bolt/nut at the center of the inner crankshaft pulley to keep the engine from turning. Also make sure you clean the crank pulley bolt heads/holes by chasing them with a die/tap or they will be very hard to reinstall easily.
For the basic HP and torque figures you should go to the VAP web site for the F-Type here: https://www.velocityap.com/product-c...ategory=f-type
Then you need to select engine, year, OEM lower pulley "colour", tune only or tune + pulley.
The basic figures are:
OEM/stock: 340 or 380 or 400 PS (referred to as HP on the site) and 332 ft/lb torque.
Tune only: 416 HP and 353 ft/lb torque.
Tune + pulley: 450 HP and 440 ft/lb torque.
In my experience the jump in performance "feel" (no figures) is greater going from tune only to tune + pulley than is the jump from a stock S (380 PS) to tune only, which I put down to the much greater increase in torque. Tune only increases the torque by a fairly meagre 21 ft/lb but tune + pulley increases it by another 87 ft/lb on top of that which is yuge!

It's the crank pulley. The supercharger one is already pretty small.
