Blind Spot Detection ?

I have a CPO'd 2016 f-type r with about 13,000 miles. I noticed that the little yellow spot in the rearview mirror which apparently indicates the blindspot system is active is on intermittently. However, the actual warning system appears to work irrespective of whether the little spot is lit or not. Is this normal?

The little spot is only lit when stopped or at low speeds (less than 6 MPH). Never in reverse...
