Can anyone tell me what this is?
Does anyone know what this cover is called and what it covers on the 2016 3.0 Supercharged? Here is a photo with the cover circled in yellow. I was wondering if there is a gasket as I have a little tiny drip of oil coming from the bottom of this cover and would like to stop the leak. I've circled it in yellow. Thank you in advance!! I've posted it in multiple models as the 3.0SC should have the same components on every model.
Thanks to someone on a different model I found what I was looking for. It's the vacuum pump that the seal commonly fails on. It's usually the main one. It looks easy to replace and here's a video if you would like to replace all the seals!
I recommend not bothering with the seal. I tried the RKX seal kit and it leaked worse. Asked my tech buddy about it and he said the failure is caused by the pump warping. Sees it all the time on Mini’s. FCP Euro sells the pump and it’s not terribly expensive. Make sure you have a very low torque torque wrench. I bought the 1/4 drive Husky from Depot specifically for this job.
Thanks for the advice! Yes, I'll have to think about that and then I'd know there would be no more problems. Seems simple to replace during an oil change and is a reasonable price. Thank you for the reply!
