Default Can't decide between 2 SVRs, one from Jag and another from a regular dealership.

I am upgrading from a V6S to an SVR and I have narrowed it down to these 2 options:

Car 1 - Sold by a non jaguar dealership

2017 Model - Ultra Blue (Brighter)
12,000 Miles, Full Jaguar Service History
4 Previous Owners (this concerns me slightly)
£74,000.

Car 2 - Sold by Jaguar Dealership.

2018 Model - 'SVO Blue' (Darker/Metallic)
25,000 Miles, Full Jaguar Service History
2 Previous Owners
£80,000.

Both cars have been checked and there are no outstanding issues. Both also look great, are almost identical spec so I would be happy with either in terms of that. The only question is whether Car 2 sold by Jaguar is worth the extra £6k for being 1 year newer, having just 2 previous owners instead of 4 (though it has 2x the millage) and it comes with a 12 month waranty from Jaguar. By contrast Car 1 comes with a 3rd party waranty.

What do you think?

I would def go car 2 . 6 grand isn’t a lot as a percentage of the total. Jaguar warranty worth it as 3rd party warranty always more risky in my eyes but the deal breaker is the 4 owners. Someone who loves the car and is going to look after it isn’t going to turn it over in 12 months. More likely there are hidden issues or prior buyers buy high end cars to thrash before turning them over. Neither of which is good for you. Also you will lose the money you initially saved because when you go to sell eventually you will be selling as 5 previous owner car and that will put a lot of people off.

Is the Jag dealer vehicle being sold as a CPO?
Also, can you extend the 5 year warranty to 7 years?
If so they may work a deal where you only pay for 1 year of the 2 extras (or even all of the extension).
GIven the warranty I agree to go with the Jag dealer vehicle.
You might use the other deal to get some leverage on the Jag dealer car.

Do you have a picture of the SVO Blue? I think a rare color is probably worth something too. I think a darker (not too dark) blue would look great on the SVR.

I would buy car #2. And try and negotiate the price down if possible. 25,000 miles is just broken in and car # 1 with four previous owners would concern me too. The warranty on car # 2 being from Jaguar and not a third party also sounds more comforting.

How are the tires on both cars ? Car # 2 might be on it's second set with plenty of tread left, while car # 1 might have tires needing replacement soon and I'm sure those would run the equivalent of about $1800 USD. If so, that would also narrow the price gap between the two cars.

We don't have CPO in the UK - the car will have a 1 year warranty which can (probably) be extended on a yearly basis for about £1000.

And we only get a 3 year warranty from new - you guys don't know you're born!

I vote for car two. Four owners at a meager 12000 miles would concern me. Makes me think those four owners flogged the crap out of the car and then parted with it or there was some issue that all of them encountered and they pawned it off to the next person to deal with.

Me too.
But also the other, 2 owners in 3 years... why so many people want to get rid quickly of these cars?

I bought mine as a 1 owner car at a year old - the previous owner was a Jaguar manager who put 1200 miles on it. I guess he lived near the office!

Mine was also a 2-owner car. Last owner was a surgeon who put 500 miles on it over a year. Guess he wasn’t driving much during the pandemic!

On one hand I want to ask the same but on the oter the I am getting rid of my V6S after just over a year and there is nothign wrong with it.. I just want a V8. But if you're getting rid of the SVR, which the top version of the car in less than a year, that is more unusual isn't it?

I had a tip from someone about Car 2 though, it has an 'O' plate and apparently 'O' plate Jags in the UK are part of something caleld the 'Paragon Fleet' which can be ex Press cars, rentral or some are used by Jag employees as company cars. So that could explain this one though I have not been able to confirm this.

This is my concern also, and If I want to sell it as the 5th owner that will drop the price a lot

I think I can give you some insight on that
My reasons for wanting to get rid of it are mainly usability in a country with speed cameras every mile, remote working (the car is parked most of the time), "honeymoon phase" over.
1,100 km currently, 1 owner (me), 2019 MY with the new infotainment system (10") and carbon roof. If you are interested let me know, the price would be better than what you reported above, there would be the import/export stuff from UAE to take care of though.
Another reason to change would be to switch to a car with rear engine and more track focused. The F-Type is considered more a GT than a sports car, anything from a 911 Turbo or better would be considered "upgrade".

I would go with Car 2, it's one owner and for a 1000 quid a year you can get an extended Jaguar warranty.

Likewise. The SVR blue looks stunning. Both have the carbon ceramic braking system which was one of the few options of significance offered on SVR.

If you posts the vins on the other thread on here about nr of SVRs, one of the members here has researched many of them and may be able to tell you about their history. Incl if the 4 owners is lots of churn or driven by paperwork changes.
