Smile Captain. It seems that our Jaguar has seized.

Hi everyone! Finally coming over to the forum side of the world after hanging out in a few F-Type Facebook groups and I would like to share my story (read: tragedy lol)

Back in July I purchased a wonderful base F-Type MANUAL! With some fun little options that I did not see on any other manual FTs. I was stoked, i had been seeking out the car for a year at the time and jumped the moment it came up. The honeymoon period abruptly ended because the engine seized on the drive home from purchase. A huge rollercoaster of emotions ensued as I tried to leverage a warranty extension with corporate (it was a month out of warranty) and came up flat. The vehicle was towed back home from sitting at the dealer for two months waiting to see if anything good would come from working with corporate. That waste of time left me with missing under trays and a new mysterious dent that the dealer has ignored me over.

This car has been the most abusive relationship I have ever been in, period…. And I still love her despite it all.

As it stands today on October 26th, the engine has been torn down with a ton of help from my boyfriend and a lift. Prognosis is bleak as we are looking for a new shortblock (or junkyard AJ126). A tale of not trusting a Carfax, learning that the AJ126 needs a lot of love and shorter oil intervals than what JLR suggests, and being hit with every single worst case scenario that could come with a vehicle. I’ll be posting updates on the car here if you are interested, please follow along <3

Check out a video of our journey below. Go easy on us we are video amateurs and just trying to do this for fun after we realized that this situation probably should be documented.

Default Yes, Tapa is the place

that is the place I had read about in other posts/threads for rebuilding JLR engines. You can do a search on the F forum for additional help. There are incredibly knowledgeable folks here that can help in so many ways. I do hope that things are looking better for you.
