Can anyone tell me if the suede headliner is waterproof/resistant? I want to take the tint off all the windows and i was going to steam the glue off.

I have the Alcantara headliner. I like it. The material is actually a mix of polyester and polyurethane, so it's pretty resilient stuff: https://www.carwow.co.uk/guides/glos...alcantara-0518

No need to worry about wear in a headliner. May help a skosh with NVH as it should absorb some sound compared to a smooth surface that would reflect it.

squishie1,
Any of the microfibre suedes on the market will not be harmed by steam or water or even soapy water. As a matter of fact most are all machine washable and dryable.
Ubad2,
Over on the X150 forum, since the cars are quite a bit older so there are many more headliner failures, I have supplied many forum members with a microfibre suede called Passion Suede that is considerably thicker than the knitted suede like Alcantara or Alston suede that is used in Jaguars. Because of this the foam backing is not necessary when replacing. The failure of the foam (turns to powder after a short time, so the adhesive has nothing to hold onto). Less than $20.00's worth of fabric will cover all of the suede covered surfaces. So order your car with whatever you want or is standard, for a couple of hundred dollars in labor and $20.00 in fabric you can change it anytime you'd like. And just my opinion, but i like the suede headliner that I have in my XKR.

Just wait for mother nature to take her course. Twice on mine my factory one dropped off (the original in 3 years and the replacement 4 1/2 years later). Just 'sayin!

I re-used the leather on mine, hopefully done properly (i.e. good glue on good foam) now by the local shop vs. the crappy sub-tier that Jag used on my other two assemblies.
